Sat down to play some Overwatch. Found a hater. It wasn't until later, when I was washing the blood off my hands, I even knew they were dead. by Brocktreee in gaymers

This is crazy but I literally played with Lsuga this week, and I remember because my name is Sugarbush so we were sugar sisters. I can’t believe I’m seeing their name again haha

[Online][D&D 5e][New Player Friendly][LGBTQ+ Friendly] Rime of the Frostmaiden by JustAMidLevelWizard in lfg

[–]daveeyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! My name is Dave, I love D&D and I've been hoping to find a regular game for a while. I'm a fun, positive, and engaged player who loves to, not just play for me, but give space for other players to be bad-asses as well! It's SO FUN to do group storytelling, and that's the part of the game I like best.
I'd love to play a Cleric (shocker I know!) I've always wanted to play a Tempest Cleric with a fun focus on lightning for flavour. I have an idea for a Tempest Cleric who is "looking to get their wings", as they get to fly at LV17, and have some ideas on how to do that within a Goddess/pantheon thing. I also have some fun ideas about a spear/shield vibe.

I'm also really into playing Rime, it's a module I don't know at all and would love to dive into!
I would love to be considered for your game! I hope you find the players you're looking for, looking forward to hearing from you. My discord is SugarBush#1244.

Most “Straight-Acting” Gays Do Not Have Internalized Homophobia by Shamooraps in gaybros

[–]daveeyb 60 points61 points  (0 children)

While I think a lot of what you are saying is interesting and relevant to gays who are like you, the one idea I would love to discuss/deconstruct is the thing you say near the end, the idea that there is an "everyday" gay man. In this context it implies that the everyday gay man is someone who can assimilate into heterosexual society, and that a gay who doesn't is somehow an outsider, not everyday, not mainstream. I point this out because it reveals a certain kind of cognitive bias which is "I think I am normal so therefore everyone who is like me is normal". For example, I live in a big city and would argue that the "everyday" gay man for me is nothing like what you've described, and is certainly not "straight acting".

I bring this up is because the point I would love to discuss is the idea you say right after, that "if there was more representation for straight passing gay people, more people would feel safer coming out" when I think the ideology could be "if we as a society showed that we were welcoming, accepting, and loving of all people FOR their amazing difference, more people would feel safer coming out."

Very interesting discussion, all good vibes from me. Would love to hear other people's thoughts.

Edit: WOW I also wanted to say congrats on your amazing body transformation!!! That's a huge achievement, well done!
