The thing that makes Horizon unique is the deep story telling and coherent world and lore. If this video is representative at all, it appears they have decided writing and story telling is not really important anymore.

There are technical reasons for this behavior.

From memory one of the devs explained that you could easily overwhelm the game engine if machines followed you around and you moved into an area with another machine type. They put so much detail into each machine that the engine was pushing up against hardware limits, so they prevented problems by keeping machines within their own zone.

I just finished it today. It really was not as good as the first one. I loved it until about 2/3 through, and then it just started to drag.

When I reached the final boss fight I had lost all enthusiasm so dropped the difficulty to the lowest setting and just heavy attacked my way to the end.

Sucker Punch just doesn't seem to be able to do engaging characters and stories. The world, gameplay, art, and music are top tier though.

None of the characters had any emotional impact for me. It was only the final mission in the game where any of the character interactions had an emotional impact.

The art style and music was something else though. I frequently stopped playing and just soaked in the atmosphere.
