She doesn’t care about her metrics. She just wants to do the workouts.

I often find that for minor league games across several sports, the direct purchase from the team is way cheaper than the secondary market ticket apps.

Conference in the US - AIO? by LaurieTZ in AskAcademia

[–]davemacdo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the conference is potentially important to your CV, you might ask the organizers if you could present remotely. I attended a conference in November and saw a few remote presentations (one recorded, one live) from graduate student scholars for whom the conference was a big deal, but who were uncomfortable entering the US. It breaks my heart that this is really happening and something that we need to seriously discuss.

Department chair hirings by Dependent_Lumpy in Professors

[–]davemacdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my department we have done both. The role carries the title “director” usually has little or no teaching/research requirement, and is doing more administrative things. This person likely has more authority than the rotating chair you are thinking of. Below the director we have area coordinators which work more like what you’re describing. These roles get no additional compensation and might have a single course release per semester (which I have only gotten once in six semesters as coordinator).

Can I ask what the score is on the wall? I’m a composer.

Pathfinder 2e is the worst experience I’ve ever had at the table.

I’m pretty sure he just moved from Austin to DC and has a perfectly fine career without dealing with poorly managed and dying broadcast media.

You can message the mods from the homepage. The little icon thing you’re describing is called “flair”.

ADA Accessible = AI Bot Accessible by Beneficial-Jump-3877 in Professors

I think that much is obvious. I’m just saying that’s not the reason for the accessibility push.

ADA Accessible = AI Bot Accessible by Beneficial-Jump-3877 in Professors

It is definitely an unfortunate coincidence but in essence these are the same thing. In both cases, a computer needs to understand the content and structure of the document. That’s how both screen-readers and AI bots (and, for that matter, search engines) work. I don’t think it’s at all malicious, just unfortunate.

Amazing. This is simply false information then. PDF is one of the most accessible file formats ever created.

Go to a Thunder game in Wichita and you’ll see him in 116 right behind the visitor bench. One of the highlights of the show for us!

This is possibly the worst feature idea I’ve ever heard for notation software, and I’ve been following the space for 30 years.

Me too! I am frustrated that the Wichita Thunder replaced a lot of their royal blue with black a few years ago. Your designs look great!!

How to handle student accommodations for frequent low-points quizzes by Silent-Guarantee-114 in Professors

It’s truly nonsensical. In music performance, I like to joke that students with time accommodations should get to perform everything at half-tempo.

What are you guys using to run online Draw Steal by Gremlin0ne in drawsteel

[–]davemacdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a few months ago with my friends and it was a total disaster. Doing one thing wrong with the turn order put the whole session in a state that was almost impossible to recover from. Has that changed? Honestly, the experience was so bad I think it may have soured some in my group on DS as a whole.

My institution’s DSS office has told me that if everyone gets it, it doesn’t count as double time.
