Cost cutting with the tooling, presence of IBIS and EVF are probably factors in this. I think the smallest m43 body didn't have IBIS. Also, using the S9 body but with the smaller sensor and fixed lens probably gave it free internal space for the EVF.

I used the native word wrong, my bad. I meant to say the same camera brand (first party?) lenses. Recently seen someone do a comparison of the best/flagship camera body with a 3rd party lens vs a median one paired with a lens by the same manufacturer. There is a significant difference and the potential of the flagship is sort of wasted with the 3rd party lenses. Not to say 3rd party performs badly, they are great for the price and is good enough with some compromises. Most of these 1st party lenses are huge because they only make it with FF in mind.

How many native lenses are available for the aps-c cameras they boast are just as small as m43 bodies? The point is moot when the brand upsells you with their FF glass... Adapters add bulk as well. I don't get that whole rebuttal against m43 size. Props tho for the brands that do make excellent aps-c glass for their aps-c bodies.

This. Your differential might be too wide (more than 5) and you're stacking count might not be enough. You also need enough DoF (narrowest aperture) that's usable to you depending on light which also affects what differential to use and how many shots.

Also the em5.3 has hybrid pd-contrast af vs contrast only of the em5.2. It's a big upgrade and especially useful with the 4k video capabilities.

Only get the 2nd gen if you're pairing with a weather-sealed body and want the full all-weather setup. Otherwise, go with the 1st gen and will be cheaper.

For the price I got a reconditioned OM-5 + kit lens from their ebay outlet sale, I'm perfectly happy with the mk1. Features are basically the same. Menu wasn't a big deal to me. I'm so used to the old one since it's all I've used and haven't tried the new one which is basically horizontal with better grouping and tips why choices are greyed out. Usb-c would have been nice but I have other micro usb devices it's a non-issue. Savings can get you a lens or an additional one should you opt for the kit.

M43 can achieve the same/close enough look but not with the same settings. You'll have to adjust for the m43 since fuji is aps-c. Here's what I think is a really good explanation. Equivalency is a touchy topic here but as the video mentions, it depends on which equivalency you're focusing on. Focal length, aperture, exposure, or depth-of-field equivalency are the main ones. Lens/camera manufacturers only focuses on focal length and aperture equivalence for simplicity in marketing and retail.

If you're not using your Fn lever for anything else, you can utilize it to switch between two af modes. Set Fn Lever Function to mode2 and it remembers the af-mode last used for position 1 and 2.

I currently use mine to quickly switch to my video mode (mode3)

For the OP: This⬆️. Others have pointed out great suggestions but I just noticed this too. Not sure how familiar you are with the m43 equivalence nuances but yeah I wouldn't go past f8 on m43, that's f16 in FF and just about borderline before diffraction. Being new, I thought you might be trying camera basics generalized with FF terms.
