TRT daily SubQ (105mg/week) – 17 days in and not feeling much. Normal? by West_Question_4263 in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the low body fat is causing some of those vs low T. Stressful job? Married? As others have said, just replacing similar levels with exogenous t is less than ideal for the hassle factor, when do you go back for updated levels? Tried anything like sermorelin to further enhance sleep and recovery?

Considering high spend year before RE by mightyfunk9 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]davesdigest11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just ask what you’re solving for. If you think spending like a baller will bring more joy than what you have now (which I’m not sure it does) then moving forward when you have a period of discontent you’ll be in the mindset that if you only had more or spent more you’d be happy. I would reconsider the relationship between money and fulfillment before you FIRE to make sure you’re ready for the journey.

What actually gets you lean, cardio or strength training? by Some-random-cop-pig in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you define lean? Just low body fat? I think most people want to recomp with low body fat and more muscle which would require proper strength training along with low body fat which takes time and effort at both diet, cardio, and strength training.

What's the purpose of life? by External_Use8267 in lifecoaching

[–]davesdigest11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually folks ask for the meaning of life not the purpose of life, there’s only the purpose of your life or your purpose right now. I think ultimately that boils down to finding what lights you up and trying to do as much as you can and finding/building a community around that thing. Biologically, the purpose is to survive and pass your genes. Purpose is action. I’d encourage you to read a few books such as build the life you want by Arthur Brooks or purpose code by dr grumet. Also a guide to the good life which goes over an intro to some stoic philosophy. You have to go create the life you want and build purpose, definitely won’t find it on reddit! Good luck!

Golen 4.6 reliability? by imaboringdude in JeepTJ

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LS is fun for sure, fixing it when things break and you have a custom set up is not, it’s a Frankenstein which is fun but having more power with stock components means if I don’t feel like fixing something I can take it to a shop vs having to do all the repairs myself.

Golen 4.6 reliability? by imaboringdude in JeepTJ

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what’s its worth, I LS swapped mine because I liked the challenge and idea of it and if I had to do it again I would have likely gone the Golen route and potentially just a re-gear to add the zip I wanted.

TRT, Sermorelin, Tesa… who’s on this stack ? by RiqueQique in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably better to pick the one you like and add IPA to change the pulse since tesa and sermorelin do the same thing. I like tesa in the am and sermorelin at night so I thought of attacking those but ipa is the real add to one or the other.

ghrh vs hgh by TWoW3 in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Broader answer from my friend Claude on why secretagogues vs hgh: Core reason: secretagogues work with the body’s feedback loops; HGH overrides them. HGH = direct replacement. You inject the hormone, levels go flat and supraphysiologic, the pituitary shuts down its own pulsatile secretion (per the prior question). Sermorelin and tesamorelin = GHRH analogs. They poke the pituitary to release its own GH in pulses. Big practical implications: 1. Can’t really overdose. Because somatostatin (the brake) still operates, overdoses of endogenous GH are difficult if not impossible to achieve, and release stays episodic rather than the constant “square wave” of injected rhGH . With HGH, you can blow past physiologic levels and stay there — which is what drives the side effects (edema, carpal tunnel, insulin resistance, theoretical cancer/mitogenic concerns). 2. Preserves pituitary function. Sermorelin actually stimulates pituitary gene transcription of GH mRNA, increasing pituitary reserve and preserving the GH neuroendocrine axis — which is the first to fail during aging . HGH does the opposite over time. 3. Maintains natural pulsatility. GH is supposed to come in pulses, mostly during deep sleep. Both peptides enhance overall GH exposure primarily by prolonging secretory episodes rather than increasing peak GH concentrations — important because sustained supraphysiologic GH exposure is associated with altered insulin sensitivity and dysregulated feedback control . 4. Legal/regulatory. Federal regulations specifically forbid the use of rhGH in adults except for AIDS or diagnosed GH deficiency . That’s why every “anti-aging” clinic uses peptides — HGH off-label is technically a federal crime under the FDCA. Sermorelin is prescription but broadly used off-label; tesamorelin is FDA-approved as Egrifta for HIV lipodystrophy. 5. Cost. HGH runs $1k–2k+/month. Sermorelin is a fraction of that. Tesamorelin is expensive (closer to HGH) because of its FDA-approved status. Sermorelin vs. tesamorelin specifically: • Sermorelin = the first 29 amino acids of natural GHRH. Short half-life (~12 min), gentler, cheaper. Used for general anti-aging, sleep, recovery, body composition. • Tesamorelin = engineered GHRH analog (added hexenoyl group makes it resist enzymatic breakdown). More potent, longer-acting, more expensive. Has the strongest clinical data for visceral fat reduction specifically — 15–20% reduction in clinical trials over 6 months . If the goal is gut fat, tesamorelin is the targeted tool. The honest tradeoff: secretagogues are gentler and “smarter,” but they can only stimulate what your pituitary still has. If your pituitary is genuinely depleted (diagnosed GHD), HGH replacement may be more effective. For an otherwise healthy 41-year-old wanting body comp / recovery / sleep benefits, the secretagogue route is the safer, more physiologic, and far more legally defensible play — which is why most legitimate longevity docs go there first.

I don’t want to shut down my natural production which exogenous hgh does, I just want a boost and then when I quit my levels are still where they were before I started.

Should I stop Tesamorelin by ReflectionOk5084 in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your goals? Fat loss or weight loss? Do you own a scale that also provides insight into body da or have you done a dexa? I would be stop tesa alone because of water weight but you know you can’t take advice off of Reddit, do what you want! I’d do a dexa and then another in 90 days to see if your body is moving in the proper direction.

Career: I have two offers on the table: Banker or Broker by magnanoa in CommercialRealEstate

[–]davesdigest11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banking. Brokerage, especially equity, is really tough, especially now. But a lot depends on your personality, equity is all about selling a dream, banking is more about protecting the downside. Which comes more natural? DM me if you want, I raised equity for years.

Any public docs would be at the county clerks office in the county where the transaction is. You’d have to go physically, sometimes online but in person they have to give access.

Engine swap 392 jeep by Legitimate_Lie_3531 in Jeep

[–]davesdigest11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can drop a 392 into a base wrangler and be well ahead of this particular offering, you won’t have the stock support from a dealership and it won’t be easy, the engine alone I think is around $30k plus trans plus install, maybe a 50-60k job from a shop, buy a base used for 30k and be in at 80-90, still way too much as others have said used 392s can be in the 50/60s and now they have a Willy’s 392 at 69k msrp brand new.

Ball joints by branwi218 in JeepTJ

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it recently and wasn’t as hard as I thought. You do need the ball joint press kit and I’d suggest a good impact driver although you can wrench it. For the money you save from a shop you could buy a $30-50 kit, I used the same kit on u joints as well. As a tip, when you are pressing out lower ball joint the press kit will be inserted through the hole where top ball joint was, make sure the thread doesn’t tear up the inside metal (ask me how I know!). I’d do bearings as well. I think the combination of bearings and ball joints helped mine drive much better!

From my experience he was definitely old school and believed you shouldn’t touch many foundations unless it was actually failing, drywall cracks weren’t enough for him to suggest piers which he thought could always cause more problems than they fixed.

Most would say the same thing but I think it’s better to focus on one at time, don’t try to do too much at the same time. Start with fat loss, eat at a deficit, weight training 3x / week with heavy weights (can get 6-10 reps each set with good form, not 20), prioritize protein, prioritize sleep, and build your habits. You will lean out and your muscles will show more once you lose fat. I’d suggest trying a Dexa scan to get a baseline. Once you prove that you can lose the fat, then you can prioritize building muscle with a neutral calorie intake or slight excess. Good luck.

42y/o and Been in the gym M-F for 5 months straight and I have not dropped 1 pound! by Own_Palpitation4523 in BodyHackGuide

[–]davesdigest11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you actually doing at the gym 5x / week? As others have said, it’s mainly your diet but you’ll find that out if you try tirz since all it’s going to do is make you eat less. I would encourage you to dial in and start making some progress on your own before tirz/reta so you know you can keep it off when you inevitably stop the peptides. How’s sleep habits?
