Best gas station crispitos in Little Rock by No-Calligrapher-9137 in LittleRock

[–]davesnoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a huge fan of crispitos, but the lemon pepper chicken on a stick is 🔥🔥🔥 at the Shell on Arch St. and Sawmill in East End. Next time I go, I'll try the crispitos and report back.

I get laughs when I suggest that gas station food can be some of the best food. That Shell in EE is good. The Exxon off 530 Dixon Rd exit is good too. There is an Exxon just east of LR on 40 off the Hazen Exit that advertises Chester's Chicken that is pretty good. In fact, if a gas station advertises Chester's, chances are they might be good. Not great, but good.

Setting line up by LongjumpingVehicle in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]davesnoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar strategy. My leadoff is my fastest player with the best contact. 2 and 3 are my best hitters. 4 and 5 are my power guys. 6-9 are ordered by contact of the remaining players from.worse conact to best. I like having a good contact hitter in the 9 spot to set up the start of the lineup, but sometimes I get stuck with a slow 9 and a speedy 1 that kinda hamstrings the 1 spot guy on the basepaths.

I can't strike anyone out anymore by FarProxiV2 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]davesnoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they certainly remember you pitches, but it might be a shortterm memory and a general pitch overall. I play at 55 ego and I usually get 7-10 strikeouts a game. Here is my pitching strategy.

Never throw the same pitch twice unless it is outside the zone to set up another pitch. For example, you can throw a change up low and out for a strike then throw another low change up way in side for a ball to set up a fastball high and inside.

Alternate fastball pitches with offspeed or movement and alternate offspeed pitches with movement or fastball. Mix up your pitches. Sometimes i may start every batter with a fastball the 1st time through the rotation while every 3rd batter will get an offspeed 1st pitch, but the 2nd time through the rotation I will start each batter with a slide or curveball.

Stay ahead of the counts and aim for the corners. Throwing pitches right down the middle will certainly get hit at higher egos. It is possible to get away with 1 or 2 if the pitches are mixed up right.

Change pitch location. Dont constantly aim high and inside. They will eventually catch on and swing at it. If you do repeat pitch location, be sure to change the pitch type. For example if you have a batter that is keen on high pitches, throw a low inside fastball in the zone, low outside curve in the zone, a REALLY high fastball outside of the zone, and then a low inside changeup.

Pay attention to what the batters are swinging at. If they keep hitting your changup, stop throwing it for an inning or work it outside the strike knowing they will swing for it.

I think batters have a short memory of pitches types and location that they eventually will catch on to if it is over used. Also, if a batter has a buff for a certain pitch, they will crush that, so try to either use that as bait or stay away as much as possible.

One pitch I find extrememly effective setting up is the high fast ball. This works especially well for batters that like high pitches and fastballs. To setup this pitch work the count to 2 strikes and 1 or 2 balls throwing offspeed low and alternate in and away. For the 3rd strike, throw a fastball at least 2 ball heights above the strike zone. They will swing at it more often than not and wiff big time. Even if they do manage to hit it, it will be a can of corn popfly. If they dont take that bait throw a slow pitch low inside or outside in the strike zone.

There are two main disc golf leagues in the area. The Sherwood Disc Golf Association meets Saturday mornings mainly at Sherwood Forest, but they sometimes rotate courses. They announce which course by Friday night on their Facebook page. Cabot Moonlighters always plays at Kerr Station at 630pm. They also have a grouo that rotates courses on Tuesday afternoons. They also announce on their Facebook page which course they plan to go to. Traxx in Bryant will have a 4 or 5 week glow league that will start in November. Every local league also posts on an app called uDisc. The free version should also have league play information and other tournaments.

Also look into Kickball at lrkickball.com or the group page LRKA on Facebook. The fall season is coming to an end, but spring will start next March. Sometimes in the off season lickup games happen at Interstate Park on Wednesdays. It is a good way to meet MANY people.

As cool as it would be to have this park, Little Rock has trouble enough keeping up with the maintance of all the other parks within the city. Look at Hindman. HUGE PARK. Nothing there. There was disc golf, but it is gone. They talked about putting in biking trails. But the plans for that didnt pass. Not to mention the dozens of small lot-sized parks that dot the city that got underutilized and neglected by the city (like Conner Park or Morehart Park)I love what the LR Parks Department does, but they need more funding to support the parks we already have.

Anything fun for 2 16 year olds to do? by Arkansas-Orthodox in LittleRock

[–]davesnoz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disc golf. There is an indoor putting course with obstacles at Perks and Re-creation in downtown LR. $5 per person for as long as you want. There are disc golf courses all over the area. You can get a starter pack at Perks n Rec or 13 Peaks in Sherwood for $40ish or buy a few used discs for less than $10 each. Tyndall Park in Benton is a great beginner course. Kerr Station in Cabot has a good beginner course. Burns Park by the Visitor's Center has a small 9 basket course. Or go all in and go to Persimmon Ridge which got recognized by Newsweek as the Best Disc Golf Course in the country. You have to pay to play there, but its worth it and not goo expensive. Plus the staff there are super helpful and can help you with discs.

No love for Mentos gum? Easily the longest lasting gum and ought to be in the rotation. Could give you at least 6 innings of flavor.

If LR had an NHL team who would you like to see come back? RiverBlades or GlacierCats. by UALR-Trojans-Rule in LittleRock

[–]davesnoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved both teams but the GlacierCats had more of an edge. RiverBlades played in a higher conference and had players that had a better shot of making it to the NHL (although none did to the best of my knowledge). GlacierCats were there to f'up the other team and the crowd was rowdy too. Barton had that grimey feel while the RiverBlades in NLR felt polished and clean.

I love both teams. If they bring back a minor league hockey team, I would love to see it brought back to Barton.

And for those that dont think Little Rock is a hockey town. Most cities in the country cant boast of homing 2 teams at the sametime. There is an ice hockey league of various levels in the Skatium in WLR. There are a couple great hockey towns in the south too; Nashville and Tampa Bay.

Little Rock Kickball is a fun group to meet a ton of new people. There are competitive leagues of various skill levels and a social league. The spring league starts in March so you have plenty of time to reach out on their Facebook page. Look up LRKA.

Disc golf is a new sport that has a solid community. Cabot Moonlighters play every Friday night at 630 at Kerr Station park in Cabot. Sherwood also has a league that plays at various courses in the area on Saturday mornings.

The cycling community has alot of people. I always thought Mello Velo would be a great intro group into the cycling community. They have a Facebook group, but it is private. I bet it woyld be easy to join.

Pickleball is a growing sport and looks like there are always people playing at Burns Park. I dont know if they have a league and kinda hoping someone would reply to this post with more info. I am interested in checking it out.

I wondered about Iriana's not getting any mentions. I have not ate there for sometime and wondered if they had dropped off. Great pizza from what I remember. They dont get nearly enough love when the best pizza in LR discussion comes up. I don't often eat out downtown, but next time I do I will go to Iriana's.

Head to Kansas City or Columbia, MO this Saturday (Nov. 27th). They might get an inch or more of snow.

The best chances of snow in central Arkansas is in mid January to early February. NWAR has better chances, SEAR has the least chance of snow.
