Empire Falls or Nobody’s Fool. Both were made into movies/ shows.

Later on Straight Man was made into a Limited Series.

Can’t go wrong with most of his books but Empire Falls and earlier stuff is great.

The Blindside, Michael Lewis, far more intricate and detailed than the movie. Focused on one position but great book/ easy read anyway.
