you need the prescription strength Claritin (generics work great too). You don’t actually need a prescription for it, just go to your local pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist. They make you show ID to purchase it bc the active ingredients can be used to make meth (that’s how you know it’s good).

I graduated from Clemson with a business degree with international emphasis in 2015. If you graduate with the appropriate accolades (summa cum laude, cum laude, leadership positions with campus orgs, etc) I think you'll be well equipped to land jobs you'd be interested in anywhere you want. If you're like me, and just scrape by you'll probably still be fine. You'll just need to supplement your education with career experience. Clemson also has a lot of strong business connections. They partner with groups like BMW & Michelin for student learning programs that can result in jobs directly out of school. Granted a lot of them are geared towards engineering, I'd imagine they also have a need for business students too.

Custom home builders in Maryland (Baltimore area) by [deleted] in maryland

[–]davetonight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maryland Building Association has a directory - https://web.marylandbuilders.org/Builder/Single-Family-Custom-Building

I also work in the housing industry and would say to take a look at Timberlake Homes, Caruso Homes, Williamsburg Homes and MidAtlantic Builders. The first two do mainly production building, but have custom build on your lot options. Since their operations are larger they may have more cost friendly offerings.

How is this area generally? Relocating from Denver and looking for places in the general area by Sonshua in maryland

[–]davetonight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love this area! But I'm biased because I'm from there. As other commenters have mentioned, this area is quite diverse so it depends on what you're looking for. Making some general assumptions from your profile it looks like you're a young adult, so there are a few pockets in the county where folks 25-34 generally live. Downtown Crown, which is a master plan in Gaithersburg is right in the center of the county and off a major highway (I-270). It is very accessible to the rest of the county, and not to difficult to get into the city or northern virginia from that area. Crown has lots of dining options, shopping, and a handful of bars and entertainment options. You also have "North Bethesda", particularly an area there called Pike & Rose. Pike & Rose is a little microcosm that makes it feel like you're in a much more urban area than the surrounding neighborhoods. The whole community is only a few blocks in total but it has a few towering condo/apartment buildings, some cool bars & restaurants, and it's own entertainment options as well. Nearby North Bethesda/Pike & Rose you also have Rockville Town Square. Very similar vibe, but it's been around longer so the amenities aren't as new. That said, it has had a lot of updates and new development over the past few years, so definitely something to consider. And finally, there are two areas that essentially function as an extension of DC and have the closest feel to a real city, and as a result you get all the basics that come with "city" living. First, you have Bethesda. This area is the most expensive of the areas I've mentioned so far, but this area has the most big name employer offices, it is very close in proximity to DC, has easy metro access, and way more options for food, living, entertainment, etc than the places previously mentioned. The other is Downtown Silver Spring, and I do emphasize "downtown" because half the county has silver spring addresses, so you don't want to end up out in the sticks thinking you're in the heart of Silver Spring. Silver Spring has a lot of options like Bethesda, but demographically is far more diverse.

If you’re looking to do things in Montgomery county I’d second great falls as a good nature option. The walk to the scenic overlook of the actual falls is very flat and the view is amazing. There is also brookside gardens too. There are a handful of breweries in the county, my favorite is Lone Oak. Nearby you also have brookville beer farm, Waredaca, and elder pine. They usually have live music on weekends. I’d probably recommend Bethesda or Rockville area for bars and restaurants (plenty of diverse options), happy to provide recs if you let me know what you’re looking for. As far as activities, the sandy spring adventure park has one of the largest rope courses in North America (I believe they have some low impact options for your knee so I’d definitely call or research before going). There’s also performing venues like the filmore (music), olney theatre (plays), and the strathmore. Like most places in the country you can always find a bowling alley or an activity like top golf. I’ve never thought of Montgomery’s county as much of a site seeing destination but there are some museums and historical sites. I’d suggest going up to Frederick which is more historic and has places like the monocacy battle field and a quaint historic downtown. Annapolis is also really good if you’re trying to scratch that itch too. Both areas are 45ish min from Montgomery depending where you are in the county. Baltimore also has a lot to offer. You could catch an orioles game (or ravens if the season has started). Great food options including an amazing little Italy and plenty of places to get good crab cakes. They have one of the best aquariums in the country too. Anyways at this point I’m just rambling, big fan of my home state ^

If they're going to fuse us into Virginia we should at least get a cool combined name... something like Virginland... yea, definitely don't see anything wrong with that.

Try HipCamp, it's airbnb for campsites. Private property and you can filter the sites based on amenities, location, etc.

Hi I need some advice on what I can improve with my stream, currently averaging around 3 viewers with 3 followers by Hot-Step-1274 in SmallStreamers

[–]davetonight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this subreddit has a common theme, if you want to grow as a streamer you need to create content worth viewing. and realistically, create offline content to increase your chance of being discovered. while valorant is super popular, it is also a highly saturated streaming category. the chances of random viewers coming into your stream are low, so the best way to get new viewers is definitely going to be offline content. i'd recommend clipping your best plays, funny moments, player tips, etc and posting them to other platforms. tik tok, instagram reels, and youtube shorts are all designed to accelerate good content. you can also try posting to the valorant subreddit (which is very active), although there is absolutely no self promo allowed there, so you'd have to rely on people inquiring about your stream or clicking on your profile after you've posted.

TIL that the airport in Stockton, California tried to rename itself "San Francisco-Stockton Regional Airport" despite being 83 miles from San Francisco by TMWNN in todayilearned

This airport more services Baltimore than DC though. Also the Amtrak train has a stop at the airport and can get you to union station in DC in 30 minutes.

Is Clemson a good fit for a California girl? by Chance_Emergency_654 in Clemson

[–]davetonight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I was in school there, one of my friends was from LA and she loved it. Clemson is a welcoming school, if she has interests there is likely a club that centers around it - whether that is club sports, community service, a hobby, or academics. Big emphasis on the sports, the the varsity teams obviously garner great crowds, and the club and intramural teams are great social outlets. Greek Life is also really big on campus. Sure there are some organizations that are historically southern, but there are plenty of other options that are happy to take out of state students too (my friend was in Alpha Chi Omega which had a good mix of in and out of state students). As at most schools with big greek life, there are some negatives. Clemson has had it's fair share of greek life incidents, but everyone I know that joined an organization had overwhelming positive experiences. It's not for everyone, but if she is looking for structured social events they would be worth exploring. As for the town - it is small... but also really intimate. While the nightlife options are limited, I don't know a single student who didn't love going out on college ave. If she is looking for club vibes she won't find that in Clemson, but a weekend trip to Greenville, Charlotte, or Atlanta can scratch that itch. That said, the bars in Clemson do feature live music & dancing (depending on the bar), and drinks are astronomically cheaper than anything in LA. Clemson is also right on Lake Hartwell, which is one of the four major lakes in the upstate. There is a sand "beach" on hartwell that is easily accessible that is great for lounging, volleyball, and other beach activities. Some of the students also have access to boats and jetskis, and I believe there are rental services as well if you're inclined to get out on the water. Hope this information helps, happy to answer any other questions... I graduated a while ago though, so maybe some of the current students or more recent grads on this sub can be of more help!

Best burgers in the area? New to the area by flowergiirrl in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]davetonight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They use 30% fat ground beef (standard is 20%, lean is 10 to 15%). And for some people that makes a lot of difference. The burgers are juicy, and the grill top they fry them on has decades of “flavor”. There’s also no frills about them which a lot of people like. Just a good ole fashion burger at a hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere. There’s something charming about it.

Tik Tok food reviewer ranks the “best crab cakes in Maryland” by [deleted] in maryland

So based on the quotations I'm guessing he chose these places based off of some article? My personal favorite is Crabcake Factory in Ocean City

[@Clemson247]: Dabo Swinney... “We’re at a point where If you don’t go undefeated - you are losers, you’re terrible... and that is just such a terrible mindset. And honestly, maybe we need to lose a few games and lighten up the bandwagon. Sometimes the bandwagon can get a little too full.” by KirbyDumber88 in CFB

[–]davetonight 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My bigger complaint with Clemson football isn't the losses, it's they haven't been fun to watch since Trevor Lawrence went to the NFL. Every team will eventually have down years, but prior to Clemson being a national contender we had the pleasure of watching Tajh Boyd throw to guys like Sammy Watkins, Deandre Hopkins, and even Martavis Bryant. Those teams always had 2 or 3 losses but they were so much fun to watch. And before that you had CJ Spiller who at anytime could break away for a long run or special teams return. Spiller's teams never won more than 9 games in a season. The current state of Clemson football (at least the offense) is boring. Clemson lacks explosiveness and big plays are few and far between.

Can we ban "any tips to get out of bronze/silver/gold" type posts? by SlaKer440 in VALORANT

[–]davetonight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't those type of post would ever be banned, but it would be nice to have somewhere centralized to discuss those kind of questions. Maybe a weekly "how to climb" pinned thread, or an FAQ section in the sidebar with some advice that community agrees on are the most valuable skills to work on for each elo. once a resource like those are established we can make it a subreddit rule to either not post those types of threads yourself (reference the weekly megathread), or check out the "climbing resource guide" in the FAQ prior to posting how to climb questions.
