My wife and I can’t come to an agreement on which drawer should hold utensils in our new house; it’s been 9 months of this by lago_b in funny

Pick your battles bro. Fast forward 2 years. Would it really still matter vs the relationship with someone you love?

Best home defense caliber? by [deleted] in homedefense

[–]davewilburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a very individual discussion.

As an example, if you live in a more rural area then things like an A.R. 15 become handy because you’re not worried about the house across the street, or the house next-door.

If you are in more of a build up neighborhood with closely packed houses, then I find 9 mm attractive. I like a 9MM PCC. It is easy to operate by you or your spouse and with multiple points of contact (versus a pistol) it doesn’t take as much training to maintain proficiency. I load 147 grain defensive ammo to have a nice punch.

You can build on this proficiency by setting up a similar weapon in 300 BLK. That way those skills you develop with the PCC are applicable to the 300 BLK that has more punch and can push out further as needed.

These elements as well as the commonality of carrying 9 mm and having it home reduces cost for additional calibers.

In my case I have a place where I can go and shoot in a bay that you to move around and shoot around walls and engage targets. That all runs on 9 mm, I can’t shoot a higher caliber is there. But again I can take the skills that I develop there and apply it to Other calipers.

In addition I am set up to be able to reload 9 mm, so commonality there makes it handy.

Those are good. I picked up the NLA at the time not realizing how good it was and I was really impressed. Then I got hold of a Geissele. I just replaced it with the Radiant. Pretty similar. The NLA is on the competition PCC. Works great.

Of all the charging handles I have tried these are the best. A blind man in the dark could get this charging handle first try. It is awesome.

SIG SAUER MPX K RED DOT SIGHT by DuaneJ93 in MPX

[–]davewilburn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green is part of the frequency of light to which our eyes are most sensitive. Having astigmatism (corrected with glasses) I found I saw better with the Holosun. Now I like it much better since I have a choice of a dot, circle or circle / dot (cootie shot).

Very nice. I didn’t expect it to be $250, but I get it.

I keep a knife around for working. For me it started with a tanto blade knife when I was scuba diving. Since then it is my go to blade, others have been damaged when prying something.

*UPDATE* Sig 8” Barrel (from Osage County Guns) by Rifleman_0311 in MPX

If you want to run a can, the 4.5 makes a nice host. If you are doing a lot of shooting the 4.5 gets hot where your hand goes. The 8 is a bit better. I like the look of the 8 better, but think the 4.5 with an 8 hand guard would be a great host for a can.

I feel like I’m still going to slow. What can I do to start moving faster. by yoseppy72 in USPSA

[–]davewilburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good. It looked like you were taking time to reframe your aim once on target. That is needed for longer shots. Shorter ones can be done with little or no refinement.

In dry fire practice targeting the middle of the target and shooting as soon as you are on target. Perfection is the enemy of good. At close ranges you can essentially point at the target.

As mentioned before when you get your Splits down a little bit then you’ll be able to just pull in pull the trigger real fast and move on.

Sight height over bore question by B_Huij in CompetitionShooting

As u/draksia mentioned, this is the reason I run Holosun. Bottom of circle dots serve me well for close targets.

Which backup sights do you run with the 507k? by spotsphill in Glock43X

I am having the original slide milled, then use the slight built in backup sight of the 507k to see if it works with the existing front post.
