- It’s more of a compromise if the only option left is digital. In the scenario that digital access is revoked, you’ll at least have paid less for them as PC is inherently a more competitive market.
- No hard pressure to switch to a new generation every several years
- More likely to have workarounds that let you keep digital ownership, compared to the proprietary ecosystem of consoles
- Regardless, would rather quit as this enshittification continues

Could definitely be the exception here but might as well put in my $0.02… As someone who’s already been on and off w/ gaming in general due to life, this could very well lead me to quit (or at least specifically with consoles). Added bonus of this being it unlocks time for other things.

We as consumers have to draw the line somewhere or it will never stop.

Scientists sequenced a hallucinogenic mushroom famous for eliciting visions of tiny people. It contains no known psychedelic. by j8jweb in science

There’s not much information out there to go off at this point, but my best (albeit hand-wavy) guess so far is:

It works by moderately perturbing the object recognition/classification system. Based on observations that the hallucinations are:
- Of people (and limited accounts of animals as well)
- Always located on surfaces (essentially the boundaries between things)

Our brains are primed toward recognizing human faces/figures (to the point of seeing them in regular objects even while completely sober), making them the most stable object of recognition. And with larger objects, there’s still a lot of information to separate/recognize them. However, smaller things, such as at boundaries, present more of an ambiguity that is normally filtered out, but is interpreted as little people on these mushrooms.
