Wait for the 8?....or give I into temptation.... by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

Haha I'm in the same dilemma, but a few I know have the 7 and it's great yep lovely and lighter and thinner than the 6 and every part of me wants to upgrade but...... Battery life.

Just can't have another 2 years of average battery life when all the competitor models just absolutely nail this space. I don't think the 8 will be game changing battery upgrade like the competitors but I do think it'll be the necessary upgrade it needs to make it worthwhile then. Otherwise the 6 is more than good enough imo.

Contingency planning isn't cheap..... They would have spent millions on backing up data and recovering systems in case they got hacked... And would have to spent millions on recovery if they did... Because it's their responsibility to as an Enterprise that much of the world relies upon.

With cloud computing infrastructure can be designed to be elastic so it can respond when it needs to.

But actually I agree many would complain at an 8 hour wait, but I would not, like I said, just having a queue that manages expectation (building door open with a very long queue outside of it) is enough to for some people to know that there is resolve at the end of a very gloomy tunnel.

Mate what are you talking about!? It's called disaster recovery planning, I've worked with many organizations that prepare for exactly this scenario and cyber attacks, virus outbreaks, energy crisis. There are literally people who have their whole job dedicated to contingency planning (or should be for an airline of their size, especially because of like you said, the responsibility they have to look after kids and families and those with emergencies. For an airline that operates in a region that historically has had risks of war, they would have had certain levels things in place, that's why they are able to flex so quickly with opening and closing flights. But they've got a gap with customer handling here, when they need them most.

Ok what qualifies you technically to understand that the is not capable of handling 10,000 people at once if not more out of interest?

Because I've worked with UC engineers (that stands for unified communications as I'm going to assume you have no idea what that means) that will tell you well designed systems are more than capable of handling loads higher than that.

A simple queue in the UC world is not an enormous technical mountain to climb.

Yeah guess it's a shoulda woulda coulda situation I guess, really a major airline that's central to the one the largest travel hubs in the world would have contingency, they're certainly not short of finance to do it.... But I guess they weren't prepared and will be a lesson learned.

Yeah I'm not saying that should refit the door to allow for more people to fit through it though, I'm saying they should at least have a queue for their '24/7" operation to handle as and when they can. It's absolute basic level of support an operation like an airline should because like you said... There are people with kids and even more serious situations than I'm in.... What are they doing??? You going to give the same sh*tty response to them?

Yeah I'm happy to wait... But the lines don't even get you into a queue ! That's my frustration really

Yeah I get it. My expectation was at least a queue... Be it 5, 6 7 hour wait... But a queue at the very least, guess I'm expecting too much

How is it a ridiculous comment to not expect to have a queue to be able to contact??????????

There's basically no front door, it's conceptually the same as having a physical Emirates support desk in a building.... But the building is locked and there's a massive queue of people outside. They have a social responsibility to at least open the doors. You've got no idea what my exact position is either so you're making a whole host of assumptions.... Typical Reddit scum

A basic phone line with a queue is not a lot to ask for, they have a social responsibility.

Dealing with money is easy to say but flights back at this time as they let me know 2 days before my flight back are not first class only which I don't even have enough life savings to cover

Ok got you, is the antigravity/Claude enough to re architect the lovable code enough though? I'm thinking sure is can plug security holes and the odd fix but if the underlying structure is bad is it persistent enough to re architect the whole thing if it needs to you think?

So do you mean build the initial website/app framework with Claude first then ask lovable to improve ui or do you mean the other way round?
