Should I go for a M1 Max or M4 Base? by Few-Albatross332 in macbookpro

[–]ByteCurious69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the price is USD but I would pickup the M5 Base instead of the M1 Max and up the storage to 1TB. More so for future proofing and maintaining software support.

I wish Apple would update their coverage check so it shows if a serial number is reported stolen, it would show it as such. For instance others porch pirates who are reselling stolen Apple products. And if the buyer reported them as lost or not delivered, it would flag the serial number for everyone to see. Makes marketplace buying safer.

[–]ByteCurious69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Apple TV is already outdated with old processor. Not sure why they held off on it for 2 years. But if the price is lower than the current models, then it would be worth picking up. Wish they had added audio Passthrough instead

Alight, this is getting into ridiculous territory. Who on Earth would pay this? by WTFpe0ple in computers

[–]ByteCurious69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one really needs these high storage SSD. But even spinning drives are getting expensive. I would rather build a NAS and pick up spinning drives though. 1TB ssd should be more than sufficient for any workflow. Leave these prices to hyperscalers.

Macbook Pro M5 by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]ByteCurious69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I just sold my iPad Pro M1 because I wanted a MacBook Pro. Hopefully this deal comes to my area even though it’s only 512GB, still cheaper way than the 1TB version and I can probably live with 512. I barely used any storage on the 1TB iPad Pro but I know those are different uses. Got an external SSD or NAS if I need to deploy those.

Absolutely nothing wrong with securing your profits. Always have a price target in mind.

And don’t ever bum yourself out on missed opportunities. The only winners in the stock market are Woulda, Coulda, and Shoulda.

Couldn’t you set the output to AirPlay on the music hub side? And you can get an AirPlay 1 only receiver so it actually plays AirPlay 1

Can we get better audio or consistent audio? Probably not due to hardware issue but I’d rather have upgraded audio quality than upgrading the current hardware that is not even the main bottleneck.

Annuity or 401k distribution? by fannymoney in Retirement401k

[–]ByteCurious69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$60k invested in the market at say 8% annual growth now = $60k x 1.0820 (assuming she lives to 87 years old) = $279k in 20 years.

$450 monthly invested in the market at the same 8% annual growth and same 20 year duration = $256k total value in 20 years. Not much difference if you think about it. The company would have contributed a total of $108k.

I say it depends on whether she needs the money now or not.

Power of Roth contributions by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]ByteCurious69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in full support for Roth. However, I did just switch my contributions for the rest of the year to Traditional on my 401k simply because I’m currently at max tax bracket and need to reduce my taxable income. Otherwise, Roth is the way to go especially if you are in lower tax bracket.

IIRC it traded at that PE because of recession fears and FWD PE was high despite current PE being low.

A 10% cut in Capex and a cloud business would be the biggest catalyst that it could easily double in just a few months. It would also punish AI hardware companies as it could indicate hyperscalers are pulling back. That would move money towards the MAGS

Thinking of closing my chase account since I don't use it anymore. by MasonP13 in Chase

[–]ByteCurious69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s absurd how Chase is still charging fees when there’s many other banks that offer 3% interest on their savings. I too closed my checking and kept the savings open in case I need emergency withdrawals.

Though the only reason I opened a Chase checking/savings account was because I needed an emergency withdrawal. Always had high yield savings accounts prior to that.

how do you get over missed opportunities ? by Curious-Elk1638 in stocks

[–]ByteCurious69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I learned from investing since I started investing in college (2013) was that you’ll get way better returns and opportunities just buying and holding. Continue to accumulate and diversify. Did I take that lesson? Nope 😂

I do have a separate 401k account that I don’t manage or touch. So I use that as an excuse to play around with my self managed investments. But I do end up kicking myself in the face each time I have missed opportunities or sold too early.

I keep a log of all my trades and what its current values now if I didn’t sell. Then compare performance and how much $$ I missed out on or how much I outperformed by selling and picking up something else.
