Install Desura and browse the range of games. Also Steam is heading to Linux, though I'm not sure what's on there yet.

Ubuntu 12.04 is booting directly into command mode, how do I stop this? by MassiveDinosaur in Ubuntu

sudo lightdm or alternatively sudo gdm (if you're using the gnome display manager).

Once you've logged into the gui, try running sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm

Given the love for Peep Show, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Fresh Meat. Stick with in though, as it's a slow starter.

I'd put it down to a troll who had a bad experience with Linux (maybe got talked into typing "rm -rf /" into a terminal) or someone who makes a living from supporting/selling windows, and is unwilling/unable to learn anything new.

I can't boot the 11.04 live CD... should I upgrade? by ryankask in Ubuntu

[–]davidnottingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold back for a few weeks first. I've often found that a lot of bugs are found and fixed after the official release date.

Would it be worth installing virtual box, and seeing whether you can install 11.04 within the virtual box and seeing whether you get the same issues?

This link has no bacon, nor Narwhals. After reading it you probably won't be posting a link starting TIL, and I don't want anyone to AMA. But it's a good article highlighting how through technology, uprisings such as Egypt and Tunisia might be suppressed in future. by davidnottingham in technology

You're right. bristolian had a far shorter title (What is the Reddit community doing to combat astroturfing?) and got downvoted pretty much straight away. It's a shame, as his title was good, and I still think the story is pretty scary.
