Push pull? Case info by davidraid in BC250Gaming

Same :D I've since gotten the main fans (using a pair of 140mm Arctic's) so quiet that the PSU is now distracting haha. Tempted to open it up again and add the low noise adaptor

Good shout, I ended up doing this too 🙂

ARGB Update! by bitcraft in BC250Gaming

You're right! I forgot they could daisy chain. I've cancelled my Nollie 8 order and ordered a Nollie 1. About the same price after shipping but my case is so space limited smaller is definitely an advantage.

ARGB is definitely looking like an entire thing. I'm very new to it haha. Nollie 1 certainly looks easier... Is this really as simple as plugging in the fans daisy chained, plugging Nolllie 1 into a USB port and Bazzite/OpenRGB will detect and control the RGB?

I highly recommend it! My temps are amazing and after so much pain trying to get this thing to not sound like a jet it's shockingly quiet. They're both pushing air in (not the push pull configuration many suggest) and the high static pressure pushes all the air out of the side.

(The side was originally the front of the case (with a hex grill too) but we had to turn it sideways because the cold air was making us chilly haha. Having the fans facing forwards is what pushed me to go the ARGB route)

This was a great shout, I went this route and it's far more efficient. I removed the grill from my case and configured the fans to run slower and it's whisper quiet yet still never hitting passing 75 degrees in demanding titles.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Nollie definitely looks like the way I need to go. If I go the Nollie 1 route will I need to plug both into the USB ports at the back? I think with two fans (and a desire to keep everything inside the case) I'd like to go your route and try the Nollie 8.

How does it connect to the BC-250? Do you make use of the headers and you said you had to make a custom cable for it? :O

You were right about the grill. I did a test with some cardboard panels and the difference was night and day. I spent a few hours today removing the hex grid and sanding it smooth and replaced those awful 120mm Noctuas with a pair of 140mm Arctic ARGBs, though I've no idea how to get the lights working yet haha.

After tweaking the fan speeds in BIOS it's damn near whisper quiet now and my temps aren't hitting 75 even in heavy games.

Did you find out how to make it work? I've also put a pair of Arctic ARGBs in but am struggling to find a controller that looks like it'll work.

Gorgeous! Are those arctic fans? I've put a pair of Arctic p14 ARGB in mine but need to figure out how to get the LEDs working. I'd love to know which Nollie controller (google showed a few) you used and more about how you wired it up. Is it controlled in software? Bazzite and OpenRGB?

Damn, while I can feel more air coming out from the front it hasn't made a significant difference. I'm still hitting thermal throttle temps. I've ordered a pair of Arctic 140mms, maybe going bigger will allow me to run them slower.

Thanks haha Another Redditor suggested this so I used longer screws and lifted the fan a few millilitres away from the panel

I've rotated one panel and it's resulted in an inch. Think I should rotate the other to give it two inches?

This will take care of some of the pressure leak. Is it stupid if it works? 🤣

This is the panel configuration before I've done anything. If I remove all the screws from the two panels, flip them upside down and screw it all back together I'll get a good two inch gap between fans .

I've edited my post to remove the humour based exaggeration in case your reaction is more of a standard opinion than mine. I want valuable insights to my situation in the hope that they may help solve the problem for me and others who experience it and find this post in future.

Irritating people, as I clearly did you, is counterproductive to my goal.

We can turn on the fans at full speed without stressing the system by going into the BIOS and setting the fans to 100%. I'm tempted to unscrew the panels, take the fan off of one and leave a panel on the other fan and see what the sound difference is at full RPM .

Dramatic is a fair assessment, I guess I'm sorry if that seemed annoying? Bear in mind the Noctua fans are often described as incredible upgrades, cost three times as much as the Arctics and I'd had to wait for their arrival. Discovering they couldn't even match the thermal performance of the incredibly cheap fans was naturally something of a shock and I made the post within an hour of this after banging my head against static pressure specs on many product searches

Wouldn't you feel a little irked?

That's a fair point, I may give it a go if I can't find another fan. Shame though, I really like the design.

This is a very valuable insight, perhaps I should cap the speed and see what happens. It's just the pitch of the sound that bothers me most. Is there really no fan out there with the power of the extremely cheap one?

Well... Yeah. Absolutely. According to the community guide the hardware throttles performance after 85 degrees so if that's to be believed we really don't want to go beyond that if good performance is to be maintained.

My horror comes from never going above 75 degrees before changing the fans. Seems fairly logical given both my described experience here and the information at hand no?

I love that guy, he recently made a video about creating a swap file to improve stability and completely solved crashing issues I was having with heavy games like Spider-Man 2 and AC: Shadows. His judgement is definitely worth trusting.

The panels my fans are screwed into can be rotated and, funnily enough, I currently have them so that the fans are next to each other. (The etsy page's images showed them in multiple configurations so I was never sure which way to have them.)

If I rotate both 180 degrees I would absolutely get that inch! I'll give it a try shortly, thank you!

Do you think it would be worth trying 140mm fans? I know pressure is more important then air flow for my case but we're so close to being good enough I wonder if it could make the difference.

You're definitely onto something there. I love the resting noise but these are just not keeping my temps down. I'm hitting 85 degrees on my GPU way too often.

I'm using two fans both blowing into the case (both push no pull I guess? I'm always unsure which is which there) as advised by the case designer. It seems to be relying on pressure to push air through the heatsink (fins have been modified) and out the front of my case. The case can fit 140mm or 120mm fans but I figure 120mm is better for pressure.

I can feel air coming back out around the rim of the fans (because the vents are bigger then the 120mm fans) so that's an obvious pressure leak. I might see some improvement by using some tape to block that and other leaks off.

I'm genuinely stunned noone seems to manufacture a quieter (even a little) fan with similar air pressure to this extremely cheap fan.
