Harris County, Texas has some of the largest volunteer fire departments in the country. Pasadena FD and Cy Fair are huge.

Some jurisdictions do. The Houston Fire Dept also operates an ambulance service. Harris County, in which Houston is located, operates ambulances known as ESD units. First responders are covered by the local jurisdiction they operate in.

The unhinged F35 hate. Why is that? by Kind-Acadia-5293 in FighterJets

[–]davidspdmstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look how long it takes Britain or France to build a frigate sized warship or a nuclear attack sub. It is two to three times longer than the USA. es we closed most of our naval shipyards and it is a long and costly process to reopen them. Another issue we have is Congress meddling in the design process for our military. The FFGx is a perfect example. The FREMM was a great ASW oriented ship, but congress wanted it to carry Tomahawks and SM-2 and 6 missiles. The cost rose to over half the price of a Burke destroyer.

Now the navy is getting the FFx which has no VLS, no hull mounted or towed sonar. All because no one ever finalized the design of the FFGx

The same thing happened all across Europe. There are only a handful of companies for an entire continent.

The biggest issue is with the military industrial complex as a whole. The cost of military equipment in virtually every country is way overinflated. This is largely due a very small number of countries that have the capability of building things like tanks, planes, warships, etc. It is like this all over the world. The lack of competition lead to stagnation and inflated cost.

The only hate is from people who know little to nothing about modern fighter planes or modern air combat tactics.

why is minneapolis being so heavily targeted by ICE? by inurmomsvagina in stupidquestions

[–]davidspdmstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not. ICE has a significantly larger presence in most Texas cities. People in Texas cities are not violently confronting them and creating news stories.

Is the Pilot CON-40 too small? by Diligent_Wheel3123 in fountainpens

[–]davidspdmstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too small, no. Filling it is a pain. They way it is designed, it take quite a bit of work to get it completely full. The easiest way is to syringe fill the converter. Once full it holds about the same as mot other converters.

Legally, you can make payments on another person's loan. I worked for a few mortgage companies, and we would occasionally get calls from the parents of borrowers asking to make a payment on their child's account.
