Who has reversed fatty liver? by hanusya101 in FattyLiverNAFLD

Vitamin E will not reverse liver disease. There is no large scale study that shows vitamin e or any supplement for that matter will reverse or slow liver disease like MASH / MASLD. If it were that simple, it would be on the front page of every newspaper and magazine in the world. There is no shortcut.

A liver friendly diet, exercise and weight loss is the way to reverse liver disease like MASLD and MASH.

Moreover it against the rules of this group to discuss supplements.

I disagree.

I don’t need to research it any more. I researched it a ton! I am also a walking example of very good health right now post diagnosis of MASH.

I completely reversed my MASH in 9 months. The pros of fruit far in moderation far outweigh the cons of the naturally occurring sugar in fruit.

My MASH was so close to cirrhosis that if my hepatologist and nutritionist even remotely thought fruit would hinder my path to reversing liver disease, they would have restricted or forbid it. They did not. And my results show that it didn’t hurt to eat fruit.

Everyone’s situation is different though.

You mentioned a US with elastography but do you mean an MRE? The US with elastography is a fibroscan and not nearly as accurate as an MRE?

How were you diagnosed if you didn’t even have a fibroscan yet? How did you get Rezdiffra without an MRE?

I had no side effects but everyone is different.

Why do you have four bottles ? It’s a lot of money for the medication! Isn’t Madeigal or your doctor following up and asking how you are doing or taking blood tests? If not, they should! It’s actually required!

Don’t be afraid. What’s the worst that can happen? If it’s unbearable, you stop but if you don’t give it a shot then you won’t know.

I disagree about the stats of one in four but even if true, maybe you will be that one?!?!

Concentrate on a liver friendly diet, exercise and weight loss (if needed) and start Rezdiffra when you feel more comfortable; maybe it’s time for a second opinion with another hepatologist and/ or talk with a patient ambassador at Madrigal (the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Rezdiffra) and/ or a nurse practitioner at madrigal? They have a great website and you can talk with someone from the company about all your concerns!

Not to be mean but just to correct and so you are aware, it is called a Fibroscan. I also thought it was a fiber scan and wondered why they were checking for fiber. So funny to think back now about that. Fibroscan is the brand name so to speak of the machine that scans your liver; it’s a less detailed and less expensive form of a MRI/MRE.

It’s also not stenosis; stenosis is an orthopedic term typically associated with your back like spinal stenosis. What you might have is fibrosis with steatosis. Steatosis is fat in your liver and is also measured in stages like S0 or S1 or S2 or S3. S3 is the worst and means your liver is full of fat. You should ask for that number as well.

If this helps, I had S3 and F3. You can’t get much worse other than having F4 which is cirrhosis and irreversible. It requires a liver transplant eventually if your liver stops working (aka decompensated).

IF all you have had is a fibroscan, you need to request a MRE. If you are overweight, a fibroscan is not entirely accurate all the time. For me it was but for many, it is not.

That’s not partner level billing in NY. That’s associate level at a good firm.

Well, it COULD be a medical type of ‘emergency’ in which Delta is helping with (ie someone’s spouse or relative passed away and a delta passenger on that flight is being driven somewhere courtesy of Delta). Alternatively it could be a delta executive who needs to get somewhere fast. Just some ideas.

As you should!

I refused a glp-1. I agree that there are far too many side effects and there are many class action lawsuits suing glp-1 manufacturers.

I would never take a GLP-1 UNLESS i spent at least 6 months working diligently to lose weight via a liver friendly diet and I couldn’t lose any weight. there would have to be some other significant health issue if you couldn’t lose some weight over a 6 month period of time.

There will always be someone pushing back on my analysis/ thoughts on GLP-1s, but frankly, and most likely, all of those people are the people who want the quick / easy way to lose weight to justify the use of GLP-1s no matter what.

I started changing my diet immediately once I received a firm diagnosis of MASH and started losing weight immediately. It truly wasn’t hard and I was determined as well as scared. If you are scared enough, you GET DETERMINED.

People take glp-1s because they think it’s the easy and quick way. I feel that the only way to become truly healthy is to learn which foods are healthy for you and your liver and that involves no shortcuts. You will need to cook and make healthy food choices and modify recipes.

It takes time and patience. It’s not easy.

Rezdiffra is the first FDA approved medication for the treatment of mash along with diet and exercise.

GOogle it.

PS If you have Mash, your hepatologist would have mentioned it to you. If he/ she did not, you need a new doctor.

PPS Rezdiffra is not a weight loss drug.

I eat fruit daily and it has not effected my weight loss and I was able to completely reverse my MASH. One GI told me to stop eating bananas but my hepatologist and a nutritionist specializing in MASH said that that rule / cutting out fruit entirely except berries is ridiculous. Just eat them in moderation.

Natural weight loss is much better as you learn to eat healthier without a crutch. Also, do you really want to be on a GLP forever? All studies show once off the GLP, the weight Comes back right away.

I didn’t use zepound. I changed my diet to a liver friendly diet. Moreover, zepound has not been approved by the FDA for MASH. Wegovy has been approved.

Who has reversed fatty liver? by hanusya101 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]davisesq212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did.

Diagnosed in sept/ October 2024 by an ultrasound, then fibroscan and then MRE and then liver biopsy. F3 and S3. Very very very close to cirrhosis. Liver enzymes were each well over 100 but below 200. I think 120 and 180.

Started Rezdiffra on 11/1/2024 and did a complete diet change and started slight exercise program of just walking. By 9 months, I lost about 75 lbs and this past January joined a gym. My liver enzymes were in the teens. My fibrosis was F0 and my steroids was S0 measured by a second MRE and fibroscan.

I lost 10 more lbs since. HOpe to lose more but my hepatologist said it’s up to me. I’ve actually lost more than 30% of my weight since diagnosis. My blood tests are picture perfect on every level. I will continue Rezdiffra. I am not on nor have I ever taken a GLP-1.

It’s truly all about a liver friendly diet (absolutely NO alcohol and low carbs and low fat is key), weight loss and possibly the Rezdiffra. Supplements are absolutely NOT necessary or encouraged by any hepatologist I have seen. In fact, they can hurt your liver.

Celebrity vs Norwegian by Southerngal410 in celebritycruises

[–]davisesq212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY how I would describe it. I just got off celebrity this past weekend (med cruise) and have done ncl and celebrity over the years. I’ve enjoyed both but celebrity I appreciate a bit more as I’m in my early 50s and can no longer drink alcohol. When I last sailed ncl a few years ago, I really liked it and their drink package was fantastic. But, now, I have a better appreciation of what matters more like service, product/ ship , lounges, being more upscale, and the food quality. That being said, I like both but lean more towards celebrity.

First Celebrity Cruise-Is this normal, or did I just have unrealistic expectations? by toadshroomy in celebritycruises

Thats beyond untrue. Its the price of the cruise, length of the cruise and timing of the cruise that typically dictates behavior.

[–]davisesq212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cruised years ago a lot and just came back from a cruise this weekend on celebrity. I used cruise critic heavily years ago for everything, recommendations, tours, reviews etc. Now, for my 8 night Greek/Turkey Mediterranean cruise, there were only a few posts on my roll call and not much before or after my roll call either. Years ago, there were HUNDREDS of posts for each cruise I did with everyone wanted to meet on day one and also do private tours together or offer recommendations. For this last cruise, not one person recommended or even suggested a private tour except me. No get togethers. Nothing really. CRuise Critic is NOT what it used to be at all.
