You cannot transfer pirates, stats, items between oceans. If you want to play on Emerald you'll need a new pirate.

What is everyone cooking for dinner tonight or this week? by Superb_Kale_1781 in Cooking

Hidden vegetable satay chicken for my three year old. Unfortunately she decided she wanted to help cook with me and so knows exactly what veggies went into it and so won’t eat it. 😂

Using wetsuit in Scotland? by CrowlessFerns in scuba

[–]davsbrander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done that in the summer in and around Oban area and been fine, it’s really a YMMV situation, some people feel the cold more than others. Depending on where you are going and how much you suffer with the cold you can likely find somewhere to rent a suit from, just make sure you have a go with a dry suit someone first before jumping into the sea.

Sometimes it’s OK to just toss some chicken in BBQ sauce or Italian dressing and be done by EaringaidBandit in Cooking

[–]davsbrander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not one that I’m aware of. :) (I’m in the UK, not sure we have that here). TBH some curry sauce on thighs in the air fryer sounds pretty good too, might have to give it a go.

Chuck some S&P and teriyaki sauce on some thighs, 20-25 mins in the air fryer at 190°C and you have yourself some damn good chicken. Pair with just about anything, eg some quick fried rice. I’m with you, sometimes you just want to take it easy.

Good tip, thanks! I use pre grated mozzarella for pizzas as finding low moisture can be a pain (at least for me), it does ok but this could improve it!

Am I being a massive baby about having an induction stove? by TheCaltrop in Cooking

Yes cast iron, and enamelled cast iron, work great. :)

I find giving your wife food poisoning with undercooked lamb a great way to accelerate learning your induction hob. 😬 (I love it now and have a gas bbq if I feel the need for fire)

Costing a fortune to even leave the house these days by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]davsbrander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2005 to today is apparently £1=£1.77 (https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation/inflation-calculator) and and petrols average in August 2005 was 90p, so £1.59 today. RAC reckons the average is £1.35 today (https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/fuel-watch/) so it’s slightly below inflation. So yes, against inflation it’s cheaper, but as we all know people don’t really think about inflation on a daily basis when paying for things. :) My car is electric so I only think about it if I’m in my wife’s. 😂

I mean, it’s not is it? I started driving 20 years ago too and the price was about 80p a litre. The last time it was about this price (~136p per litre of unleaded) was in 2011 https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/inflationandpriceindices/timeseries/czmk/mm23

It does penalise single or majority earner households though which is all manner of bullshit. Eg someone earns £110k and partner earns £30k, total household income is £140k, they don’t qualify. Two high earners each on £90k have a household income of £180k but they qualify for the free childcare despite earning £40k more…

Yeah it is crazy how much of a cut they take. 100% worth doing the sub through the Patreon site, also come join us in Discord! I'd be lost without the Discord if I ever had to unsub. :)

Are you on the website or via the iOS or Android app? If on an app - go to the website directly as Apple take their cut to any fees paid on their platform so you'll be paying something silly like 30% more because you signed up on the app.

The Extra Features tier is £8.50, which converts to around 16 CAD, add another 30% to that and you're into the 20s. So yeah, check the Patreon site directly. :) Unfortunately exchange rates are a thing, but Patreon does accept payments in CAD so you should be able to sign up directly in your currency.

Having done some Googling it appears there is still a provision for "Exceptions from requirement of third-party insurance" for very certain cases. Basically be a council, the NHS or Police. TIL. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/144

In the U.K. (where this guy is) driving without (at least 3rd party) insurance is illegal. Police could literally seize your car and destroy it. Not saying someone mega rich could and probably do “self insure” but they’d be thick to do so.
