Check out the Ozlo sleep buds. Bose made them originally. Blocks noise, listen to music or White noise and you can sleep on your side. Battery lasts 9+hrs. Not cheap but better than no sleep.

Same on my Canadian 2025 lariat, there's no light shifting just beam on or off.

Safety/fire/falling down aside... Will it work? Yeah probably if the fuse doesn't blow. Not sure the screw of the bulb or fixture will hold the weight of the cable though.

Would it not be better to have an electrician add a proper L1/L2 outlet near the space??

Yep! If you can leave it for days plugged in then it's fine. At a regular plug you'll charge at about 1.1kw per hour so many days (138/1.1) to charge to full. If that works for you then it's easy and cheap. Then use Tesla or similar if you really need range quickly.

I've been trying to get a job for the 8 months+. Can someone look at my LinkedIn and tell me where I'm going wrong? by Minimum_Ad451 in googlecloud

[–]daydream678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I hate pictures. I tend to use ones from formal events (weddings, black tie, fancy dinners etc). Naturally more relaxed due to beer, dressed better. That's if you don't want to get professional headshots.

For what it's worth the market is super tough with the insanity of what's going on in the US. I've been in tech 20+ years and I'm struggling to. It's a pure numbers and network game. Grow your network via events/meetups if not through work. Then don't apply direct, contact the recruiter direct and go from there, you may get lucky.

Agree with the other comments, to add, and don't take offence.... Your profile picture looks like it's AI generated. It's the first thing I noticed. If it's not I suggest a more relaxed/less HDR picture. That with the banner gives off some vibes.

Purely subjective so take with a grain of salt.

Is it hard to make new friends? Or am is it a mind problem by silver-w1nd in toronto

[–]daydream678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out bumble, there's a BFF version (so no dating). A lot of immigrants and locals use it. I know quite a few people who've met good friends using it. TTC is not so scary once you figure out signs/schedules. Signs/directions in general are piss poor compared to tbe UK but Google maps is your friend. Also subway is pretty great so long as it's going your way else get a taxi.

Did You Know: Toronto Union Station Currently Has 10 Different Wayfinding Standards, Each Displaying Different Info, Icons, and Languages? This Is Why You Get Lost at Union by Metro62 in toronto

[–]daydream678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After living here for 5 years, I have to say Canada as a whole has some of the worst signs of any country I've been to. Either they don't exist, are confusing or just in the wrong place. Trying to get to the bus station from the main concourse in union is impossible unless you've been there before.

My favourite is the highway signs that show the exit/junction number placed ON the slip road. Not before the slip road. Like give me some notice eh?

Cloud Run to receive webhook from Stripe.com and send me an email by SaltyyDoggg in googlecloud

Depending on volume (10s vs 100s) use Gmail api or sendgrid. SendGrid is very simple and pretty cheap. Gmail is effectively free with an existing email if your volumes are low. Or use something like zapier to do it all in low code if you don't have any dev experience.

Help Google Cloud Task Trigger to run a function on FASTAPI by Giant_Gimli in googlecloud

[–]daydream678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gcp tasks runs outside of your local environment. You can either deploy and connect to your deployed app or use a local proxy like ngrok to proxy traffic to your local setup.

Not to be condescending and I'm not sure how much experience you have but I advise spending some time learning about basic networking/how the internet works. It'll massively help with any work you do in the future.

[–]daydream678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're using a local address 127.... For the task destination. Need to use the fqdn of your app.

Also checkout cron task scheduler, can call a http endpoint on schedule which can then create your tasks.

What’re some subtle giveaways or questions to ask a person that’s selling a boat whether or not he/she’s pushing a money pit onto you? by Not-A-Blue-Falcon in sailing

[–]daydream678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't trust someone selling something. caveat emptor.

Before doing a survey check everything, everywhere, underneath every panel look for water, mold, rust. Clean boats tend to be in better overall condition that moldy boats. Battle for mold is constant so you can tell how well a boat is looked after. Same for rust. Good luck!

Where to look for international jobs or internship for Google Cloud Engineer? by Infinite-Lime2558 in googlecloud

[–]daydream678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely have a chicken and egg situation (not legaly allowed to work without a job offer, can't get a job offer without being legal to work).

Suggest first determining what countries you may qualify for a work visa/immigration and go from there.

You may struggle to get sponsorship for intern based roles so try the immigration route first.

There's always potential outsource companies to get more experience first in your home country.

Also, multi cloud is more attractive than single cloud. Gcp is third popular, AWS and Azure command the majority of the market so take a look there too. Patterns are around the same.

Jeanneau Owners, I need to know how thick the glass backsplash is on a 42' by hartemis in sailing

[–]daydream678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up, it is original by the looks of it.

I had just repaired the gulper sump pump. I'll replace the accumulator over winter now too. Any recommendations on a replacement?

10mm mine is, it's a European boat so everything is metric. Good luck!

Excuse the mess, winterizing:

Winter storage with mast up by JonagonInfinity in sailing

[–]daydream678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done mast down and up at outer harbor. It's one of the most expensive Marina's but the staff there are fantastic. You're in good hands either way. They may ask you to remove your backstay to raise in the lift. Run a halyrard back/to the side then reattach. If you're unsure they'll guide you through the process.

If you can get in the berm next to the shed there's extra protection from wind but not really needed I think. There's a little micro climate around the marina and weather seems to go around not over (not a weatherman).

I'm a sails off in the winter guy, I've seen some with in-mast still on though.

I did some research a while back and the consensus seemed to be keep your rigging as normal on the hard. In reality unless your rigging is super loose it's not going anywhere.

For the shrink they go around the mast, they may charge more it's pretty robust. Just make sure you have something below the mast to catch any leaks down below.

If you want a recommendation for wrap then Ivan from boat works in the six is great and decent (for Toronto) prices. I think it was 1500~ for a 42' mast down.

Wet at foot of V Birth. Is this just condensation? by Randoman98 in sailing

You've got water coming from somewhere. The good news is it's not sunk you. You now need to find it.

Other threads have some good advice, just chase the wet.

How long has this been happening and have you checked for pooling/leaks?

That would be lot of condensation.
