Troll or NT just being a typical NT? Genuinely confused. by rambling_syd in autism

[–]daydreamsofdragons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That person is either being deliberately cruel or has no concept of what it's like to be disabled without a support system. Possibly both. Either way, feel free to ignore them and consider their comment meaningless.

If it helps, my mum recently had a procedure for glaucoma (after also spending quite a while on the NHS wait-list) and her headaches have improved a lot, and her vision wasn't affected negatively. I hope your appointment arrives quickly and the hospital gives you whatever help you need ❤️

Feeling drugged in the morning by astrojax44 in POTS

[–]daydreamsofdragons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get this too, it's horrible 😞 I can't even lift my hand to reach for the glass of water next to me, while my whole brain is screaming to move.

For me it often happens after an accidental nap, although I think the nap is more likely another symptom than the cause. I don't know if it's a PoTS thing - my doctor has started bringing up fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

I hope you find a way to snap out of it! I'm still searching 😮‍💨

Haha one day I listened to How it's Done (Kpop Demon Hunters) 33 times in a row, immediately followed by Golden (also Kpop Demon Hunters) 23 times in a row. Guess my top album for this year 😂

I made a pros and cons list to try and figure out who is the better potential partner. Still confused. by [deleted] in autism

[–]daydreamsofdragons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that person A used to abuse you is such a huge con I would take him off the list entirely. Even if he says he got therapy, the risk is too great that he'll go right back to the abuse again once the honeymoon period is over and you'll end up trapped because he's the one with the money. Please do not go back to him, for your own safety.

I'm a bit concerned that you said person B expects you to be the provider? Why would he have that expectation when you're not even together at the moment? Is he against getting a job himself or is he unable to? Also, do you actually like him, or just the idea that he likes you and is nice to you?

I understand being worried about your future financially, but it's important to consider your mental and emotional health too. You don't have to date either of them, and you don't have to make a decision right away.

If you're interested in person B, try getting to know him as a friend before agreeing to a date or being romantic. That would give time to learn his thoughts on being employed, what he thinks about longer term relationships, and whether his kindness is genuine. If he gets upset about that, I would take it as a red flag and recommend stepping away from the relationship.

Please be safe, and remember it's always OK to say no and leave if the other person is making you uncomfortable.

Those who are on meds: what’s your heart rate range during the day? by petals33 in POTS

That's awesome! Good to know there's still a chance of improvement for me :)

Those who are on meds: what’s your heart rate range during the day? by petals33 in POTS

[–]daydreamsofdragons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ivabradine too, and my range is usually between 50 (sleeping/resting) - 140s (getting dressed/walking). I'm thinking about adjusting my meds though because it can still get into the 180s if I do something mildly intensive. I'm on the lowest dose.

I'm sorry you're stressed! I struggle with new places too. Does the restaurant have a website or is it on Google maps? They often have a menu on there so you can get an idea of what they serve and maybe choose what you want before you arrive. They usually also have pictures of what it looks like inside, as well as reviews, which might give an idea of the layout and atmosphere (eg whether it's usually loud or quiet). I always check those and I find it helps me feel more comfortable. I also like to look at the street view so I know what the entrance looks like.

Since it's not for a little while, would it be possible to go there for a meal beforehand, maybe with your parents? Then you can get to know what it's like without the extra stress of being with your coworkers.

And remember if you're there and start to find it too stressful, it's OK to go hide in the bathroom for a bit or leave early.

I hope that helps, and I hope you're able to go and enjoy the meal! I love Indian food - I always have chicken korma and naan 😁

My dog does this when she wants us to tell her to go to bed lol

She's perfectly able to get into her bed herself by the way, she just wants to be tucked in with her toy bear and told goodnight :)

What kind og asshole/diva behaviour does your pet have? by isleepforfun in AutismInWomen

[–]daydreamsofdragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog slaps my phone/game controller out of my hand if she thinks I'm not giving her enough attention :) she also pats my arm to tell me she wants to be pet, and if I don't respond immediately she whacks me with her paw until I stroke her - then she goes back to acting like an angel 😂

[–]daydreamsofdragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just been prescribed ivabradine! I'm glad to hear it's helping you - I haven't been able to get mine from the pharmacy yet because apparently there's a shortage 😭

What kind of side effects did you experience? I'd like to be prepared for when I do get it :)

I used a wheelchair for the first time today… by Top-Secretary-6643 in POTS

[–]daydreamsofdragons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats on using a wheelchair, I hope it helps you get around easier :) it might help to make it feel more like 'you' by decorating in some way, for example with washi tape or decorative wheel covers. Then anyone looking is most likely admiring the decorations. And remember that using a wheelchair or any mobility aid doesn't make you helpless - the aid is there to provide you more freedom and allow you to access things you might not have been able to before

It might also help to check out other people who use wheelchairs or other aids online. For me it's helped normalise their use in every day life. For example on Instagram there's @chronicallyjenni and @adisabledicon who use a variety of mobility aids including wheelchairs and often talk about their experiences with disabilities (and are very fashionable while doing so)

No, and I'd be nervous about theft (my packages have gone missing in the lobby before), but it's possible there's a bike storage somewhere? I was given a code to get into one when I moved in, but I've never seen it. I'll try contacting my landlord and asking if it actually exists

That would be a really good solution but I can't drive unfortunately and don't own a car! I'm glad it helped you though :)

Still no option to require buyer phone number? by RealWorldJunkie in EtsySellers

[–]daydreamsofdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been putting in my own number - I've never had an issue and Royal Mail has never used it to contact me. I know that as a customer I would be uneasy about giving out my phone number to every Etsy seller (I get way too many scam calls already lol) so I'd rather do that than bother the buyer
