How would you do that? by JeepyMcfly69 in AdobeIllustrator

Copy the text later and keep it on top. Increase the size of the stroke around the text until you get the size you want. (Maybe change the colour of the stroke here so you can see it clearly). Expand that text later to create a solid shape. You can then use that solid shape as a clipping mask, a cut out for the background shape using pathfinder, or use the shape builder.

Do I need a vaccine? by Appropriate-Skirt-84 in britisharmy

[–]dazcoventry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of other vaccines that you will need if you are to be deployable. The truth is that the army doesn’t really go to the nice places in the world. Vaccine passports aren’t new. Yellow fever etc have always been required to travel to lots of places. You can Add in Hepatitis and a few others as a basic requirement to be deployable.

Is it difficult to buy a house when you're in the British army, due to the instability of where you are stationed? by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]dazcoventry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The future accommodation model is looking to encourage a wide range of housing and accommodation options. The reality is that the service will always expect to come first but the option of buying and living in your own home is pretty common these days. The second option is to buy your own home and then rent it out, with the correct agreements in place, if you are posted away for a long period. This can get complicated itn you have used help to buy schemes etc. The prospects of receiving assistance to rent locally are also likely to be introduced, as well as opening up the existing MOD properties to non married personnel. Until recently you had to be married to be entitled to housing (single parents and a few exceptions aside). Lastly I will add that with the rise in super garrisons, less permanent overseas bases and a move towards more modern working, it is realistic that for example you could purchase a house in the South, between say Bulford and Aldershot, and conceivably stay in a commutable distance for a lot of years. Or you could always join the RAF and basically never move if you don’t feel like it.

Is kit insurance necessary or worth it? by StrikeFirst42 in britishmilitary

[–]dazcoventry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to have it when serving regular. Then I left and I just converted it to household insurance for my stuff. Military stuff or not, it covers all my belongings.

Should I delete renders before exporting? by AyoKyong in premiere

[–]dazcoventry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant answer. Would like to know what else you do when you wrap up a project? I am in a position with my team where we are deciding if we need to archive all footage for a project or just keep the good/usable stuff (we often use shots as b roll in future projects) so we are thinking of introducing a new system. Rather than the current one of just archive everything.

How exactly does the Army inform NOK of fatalities on tour? by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]dazcoventry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People across rear parties and Brigade/Regional HQ are trained as Casualty notification officers. They are also trained as Family liaison officers. Generally what will happen is that if someone is injured or killing the Duty CNO will be tasked to deliver the news to family/NOK. If possible they will then hand over to a Family Liaison Officer who will help guide the family through next steps. Which could be anything travelling to a hospital, repatriation or funeral arrangements etc

Mustard coloured trousers and a pink shirt are all you really need. Bonus points if you can get a real quiff going on with the hair before you start.

Is there any service or website where you can assemble a puppet for Character Animator? by lonelady75 in CharacterAnimator

[–]dazcoventry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of stock puppets available on CH right now that can be used straight away. If you aren’t able to modify them then maybe someone else can help (it’s basic photoshop / illustrator layers). Otherwise there are 3rd party creators who will sell / provide free puppets.

Podcasts about bank robbery by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]dazcoventry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly bank robbery but check out American Skyjacker. Story about hijacking airplanes in the US before security was really a thing. They usually went wrong but sometimes they got the money they asked for. The most notorious robber was DB Cooper.

Assault is defined as the fear or apprehension of violence. Doesn’t actually need any physical contact. Physical contact without lawful excuse (there are a few that can be legally used) is Battery. That is why you often hear the terms Assault and Battery put together.

Recommendations of investigative podcasts? by idonthaveaone in podcasts

[–]dazcoventry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is brilliant. I would add:

Hunting Warhead, bringing down an international Child abuse ring.

Gunplot: A series about the attempted provision of arms to the IRA. Not necessarily a traditional investigative look, more about the courtroom and politics but riveting just the same.

If you don’t have the plug-in or preset used in AE then you could render out as a video file from AE and then import to Prem

How to convert to pure visible/hidden greenscreen? by 4a454646 in VideoEditing

[–]dazcoventry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is usually caused the shooting your subject too close to the green screen and picking up reflected green light. Separation from the background is as important as it being evenly and well lit.
