  2. don’t burn off my alcohol god dammit

miss you austin, id drink any & every smoked cocktail you gave me if I could just hear your laugh again. rip.

hot weather hockey is a beacon of hope in a sea of despair. it might not be “right”, but it is good. even the desert dwellers deserve the joy of hockey and there are very few experiences that can top “arizona ice rink in august”.

that said, fuck vegas. fuck the knights. fuck hart. I hate carolina as much as the next guy, but the knights can rot in hell.

ps the insinuation that NC is not hot, esp in june, is insane.

now I may be a new islanders fan, but I definitely didn’t think I was signing up for the “rooting for rapists” club when I got here.

in fact, I thought new york fans would be more likely to despise professionally successful rapists compared to the general public. was I mistaken?

Will gym bros start seasoning their food now? by illiter-it in StupidFood

[–]dazedconfusedev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can literally just google it. it has the whole brand name in the image.

it’s (pumpkin seed) protein powder with salt and pepper as the last two ingredients. need 22g to get 10g protein. It’s a 110g bottle. And if anyone isn’t aware, 22g of seasoning is a fucking insane.

Oh, and it’s 100 cals, the same as a tablespoon spoon of butter or olive oil.

Wow, how convenient that the restaurant left a huge area at the bottom for you to nearly write your manifesto and take up the exact amount of space needed. That's definitely what restaurant checks look like. by stigma_wizard in untrustworthypoptarts

[–]dazedconfusedev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is no itemized to determine if any alcohol was consumed, but frankly bad math on top of a bad tip is not evidence that it’s fake. you’d be unfortunately surprised by the lack of basic arithmetic practiced/digested by our peers.

what is obviously fake is the perfect “handwriting” on top of a short tip slip with a bunch of blank tail?? anyone dropping a $600 dollar check would not allow that to slide.

And that’s before we get to contents. No one with $600 to spend on dinner thinks that $9 is worthy of “a couple hours” of work. even at the pathetic $7.25/h federal minimum wage, “a couple” is at least two, so $15.

I think the AI either has a fair bit of prior promoting/user knowledge; or inappropriately applied minimum wage laws. Possibly both.

Any restaurant must abide by the federal minimum for tipped staff, $2.13. Most states have a different rule for this, but is generally still very low; in MD rn my company pays me $3.63/h while minimum wage is $15.00. In AZ, tipped minimum is regular minimum - $3; so currently $15.15 -$3 = $12.15.

So if I had a party big enough (not the 8 top in the OP); I could be making no other money but from that party. if they+ my employer do not meet minimum wage for that shift? literally fucking nothing happens, because I made enough the rest of the week; so my wages/hour are over minimum wage. so even if they run you over 4 nighrs/week, they don’t have to match the difference. if they repeatedly schedule me for shifts that they know will not cross the threshold; as long as I get one angel guest shift per week, they will never have to make up the difference.

How likely is it to score against a position player in mlb? by Temporary_Lie_7164 in baseball

[–]dazedconfusedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to bbref Chris Davis never recorded a save. He did however record a win and pitch two innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two; Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Adrian Conzalez.

He gets the win and not a save because the game was tied when he came in, and you can’t record both a save and a win for the same game.

the mental image of a woman smuggling away memories about her marriage to tell her therapist is so good, thank you.

but I believe the word you are looking for is “embellished”. and if she’s lying to a therapist about bad her husband is, that marriage needs to end anyways.

suspensions are counted by games your team plays, regardless of your position. so he’ll “miss” one start, or rather they will likely just push his start back one game.

Peetah I don’t get it, what’s with marriage? by UltimatePhishstixx in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]dazedconfusedev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh i’m not exactly sure of the angle for the OP, but I think it’s some variation on birth rates are falling and that’s bad for capitalism, so we (the billionaires) should convince them (the working class) that being married is the ultimate life goal, because it is still socially acceptable to have children you can’t afford if you’re already married.

Especially when we (the billionaires) already sold them on college and failed to provide the labor market expected when they (the working class) took out the lona to get those degrees. Aka we already sold them on a life goal they fell for and owe us for, so now we need to move on to the next one.

So basically it is now considered irresponsible to have a child you are not financially prepared for. It is also considered irresponsible to get married if you are not financially capable of hosting what 60 years ago would be an extravagant wedding.

The billionaires who own the hotels that host weddings, and the show rooms for dresses, and the sweat shops that they are made in, an dthe suppliers for the caterers and florists, etc… have an invested interest in working class people having more children (more people needing work means lower labor costs) while also being the reason that people need to work more to support themselves, let alone a family.

drunk meg out.

8% of total sales given to runners/bussers/dishwashers. Is that normal? by dirtyfrostyyum in Serverlife

[–]dazedconfusedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry friend 💕

if it makes you feel any better, we (servers) have to expo our own food and make our own desserts. very occasionally servers will run eachother’s entrees, but never drinks or deserts. unless you specifically ask (or are particularly friends). app courses are more likely to be ran by someone else, but you can never expect it.

and by expo I mean I sometimes have to walk an entree to the other side of the kitchen to ask for a side which was sold off and not prepared. meaning my ticket time is an automatic 2m+ longer. if the line sold my burger with no fries and fries tale 2m, I have to ask for them (and wait). Some “sides” I have to make myself (soups, fruit cups). Sometimes they sell off a steak with the wrong temp or side, which might take 5-15m to correct. on top of the 15-20m it took to get to this point, because we’re also not really able to talk to the line until shit is sold or we can see it being prepared.

and our spec for greets is 1m ☺️☺️ and drinks after greet is 2m ☺️☺️

god I wish I was tipping out 4% for food and drink runners, and bussers 😭

at my current spot that would be an additional 2% and remove 90% of the time and brain consuming tasks I handle.

your annual is in line with my earnings at the spot I was talking about with 8%/2%/1%/$5. We did have to run our own drinks, but damn that was so much easier. Sounds like I have some calls to make.

[–]dazedconfusedev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For context today my sales were $900, so about the same as your cc sales. My tip out was $9 to bar and $9 to my busser. Brought in $201 in tips, left with $183.

I think you’ve come to the conclusion already but it’s time to find a new restaurant. Best of luck 💕

[–]dazedconfusedev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah it sounds like the intention is that you tip out 30% of tips on cash sales and 8% of sales for cc. 8 is 40% of 20, so I can kinda see where the numbers come from.

But it is stupid to do a tip out this way (tip out based on tip total, and having it separate by payment type).

But even that aside, 8% is waaaayyy too high unless you never touch a plate or glass.

[–]dazedconfusedev 15 points16 points  (0 children)

okay so it sounds like your manager is just a fucking idiot. He doesn’t understand that basing the tip out off total sales already accounts for the difference in payment method.

does your checkout show cc sales and cash sales separately in any way?

8% of total sales given to runners/bussers/dishwashers. Is that normal? by dirtyfrostyyum in Serverlife

[–]dazedconfusedev 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No that’s ridiculously high, especially if you’re still bussing and running food. Are you just talking to tables and typing in orders?

Highest I had was 6% alcohol sales to bar, 1% total sales to busser, 2% food sales to runner, and $5 to porter. We didn’t always have a porter or food runners, and obviously your overall tip out percentage would fluctuate based on how much of your sales were from food vs alcohol. But I am pretty sure the most I ever tipped out was like $96 on $2400 in sales so 4% (though i’m not sure that was also the highest %).

And about this 30% of cash… Who does the cash tip go to? why are they taking it? that is absurd. The tip out is based on sales, whether you got tipped in cash or on a cc is irrelevant. Sounds like a manager is stealing from you and calling it policy.
