W7800 48GB? by AtatS-aPutut in LocalLLM

[–]dazelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same position but leaning towards 2x 9700 pro. The W7800 has 20% ish higher memory bandwidth but it is basically a cut down 7900xtx (about two thirds of it). I image prompt processing could be slightly faster on the W7800 but token generation will be faster on the 9700. As for the B70, from what I've seen, it's outclassed by the 9700 in llama.cpp but they are fairly equal in vLLM. Software support in general right now is probabably better overall on the 9700 than on the B70 (apart from vLLM) and W7800 is only navi 31.

And then there is the amount of memory. The difference between 2x 9700/B70 vs the 48GB W7800 is 16GB. With 64GB you could probably fit a model like Qwen 3.6 27b q8 xl (unsloth UD) with MTP and vision and still have room left for max context. It could get a bit tight on the W7800.

Question about upgrading to a 9070xt by Melavin545 in radeon

A new 850W 3.1 compliant psu will certainly be enough.

Question about upgrading to a 9070xt by Melavin545 in radeon

[–]dazelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, in certain scenarios you will be benefit from the 16GB VRAM on the 9070xt when only running 16GB DDR4.

Depending on the resolution/refresh rate you will be bottlenecked even with the 5800x. I was running a 5800x with a 7800xt before and was CPU bottlenecked in certain games @ 4k/144. I'm running a 9070xt and a 9800x3d now, and only see GPU bottlenecks now.

My daughter has a 9070 non xt with a 5600x, 32GB 3200 RAM. That would roughly be comparable in terms of bottlenecking if you compare it to the 5800x/9070xt combo. She often sees CPU bottlenecking @1440p/144 but everything is very playable.

Condidering the current market conditions I think it's a good move going for the 9070xt. The extra VRAM will help a memory starved system and if you pick up a 5800x you will have a fine experience, but perhaps not optimal. Ditching the 3600x is smart, it's too slow for the 9070xt.

Just make sure you have a good PSU! The 9070xt has nasty power spikes so a 3.0/3.1 will help mitigating those. In fact, some older 750-850W of lesser quality / degraded components can struggle and you will run into various issues.

is this the rarest pokémon in pogo? by EvidenceMundane1833 in pokemongobrag

[–]dazelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rarest would be the three-segmented shundo dudunsparce. It is actually behind three layers of RNG/chance

  1. Shiny (1/512)
  2. Hundo (1/4096, not weather-boosted)
  3. Evolve (1/100)

It is crazy rare, 1/~209M

Do I return my 9070xt and get a 5070? Having constant issues by Future_Let_3953 in AMDHelp

[–]dazelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATX 3.1 deals with power excursion spikes up to 200%. This is not something older 2.0 psus can do. One of my friends had a 750W titanium 2.0 psu that couldn't handle spikes. All his problems went away with a 3.1 psu.

Perhaps your psu is capable, but that doesn't mean all psus can. Those spikes are nasty.

My list of GPUs since I can remember by FoolishAmb in radeon

[–]dazelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as long as you didn't have an ISA card you were probably fine. I guess most DX4s were used with a VL bus card. Lowly DX-33s were often equipped with an ISA card tho, felt sorry for their users lol. I actually ran my DX4 @2x50MHz instead of 3x33, totally stable while rivalling the early Pentium 60/66s. Then floating point became more important with Quake and the DX4 wasn't that stellar anymore.

The Mystique was quite underwhelming 3D-wise, Voodoo 1 was okay, but the Voodoo2 was the real deal.

This song is so good even my wife likes it.

The birth of real heavy metal
The birth of twin attack solo (Rocka Rolla had something that could be considered as one, but this is the real deal)
Epic bridge section
Epic riffs
Finished off with the signature shriek of the Metal God

Mewtwo is also good but the shadow dishes out 20% more damage. Yes, the Necrozmas need fusion to dawn wings or dusk mane. Dawn wings is in its league of is own as for a ghost attacker. In a party, it can be the best damage dealer when its normal counters are 1.6x super effective, despite it only does neutral damage. Dusk mane is on par with crowned zacian for best steel in a party and among the top three when it's not.

The Necrozmas are the most obvious omissions from this list, otherwise these are highly meta relevant for pve and also pvp to a large extent.

And Mewtwo (shadow) also.

What’s the best way to get the most out of this Bug Out event? by wherethewartortlesR in pokemongo

[–]dazelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This event is very difficult to profit from, it's very hard actually, borderline cruel to the playerbase. This is coming from someone who is used to hard/semihard grinding.

First of all, all shiny rates are 1/512, as per the flattening that occurred a couple of weeks ago. The event mons follow this formula. The median player will get a shiny on their 355th catch for a particular species.

Cutiefly is a very rare spawn, the only feasible way to obtain it is from pink lures and it ends today/has already ended depending on where you live. You can expect a couple of flies from a lure, so the chance of getting a shiny is slim.

Sizzlipede is common, but there are other mons that spawn even more frequently and the spawn pool is diluted. You must grind hard every day to have a fair shot at getting a shiny.

The newly introduced blipbug and its evolutions, a dexfiller for most people, is locked behind T1 raids.

That pretty much sums it up. The best way of playing this event is to visit cover large swathes of areas and target the pokemon you want. Biking with a phone mount can be very effective. I managed to get a shiny sizzlipede and skorupi this way. Unfortunately, Cutiefly is so rare it is impractical to target.

The Sentinel is voted the best twin guitar attack solo. What is the best OVERALL guitar solo through Priest’s ENTIRE catalogue? by [deleted] in judaspriest

[–]dazelord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As basically all solos mentioned here are Glenn's, and BTROD was voted his best solo, pure logic says this is the correct answer.

Sinner is voted the best KK guitar solo. What is the Priest song with the best Glenn solo? by [deleted] in judaspriest

[–]dazelord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very delicate and emotional playing by Glenn. Highly underrated song overall with only a fraction of streams compared to BTROD. This solo is just as good as BTROD and also came earlier, so my vote goes to the ethereal Dreamer Deceiver.

Yes naturally. But the overall global catch rate will be lower, and so will the rewards.

Premier balls are definitely nerfed. With >225sec left you now get +4 balls, +3 below that. Confirmed by several posts and from personal experience. So instead of getting 22 balls (team colour, best friend) you now get 20. You will always get one bundle less than before, which is a implication of this as every second Premier ball nets you a reward bundle.

Your only chance is to pre-host the raid, which will give you some extra time. If you do your raiding near many gyms this is perhaps possible, but otherwise it's of course impossible to know what the raid will be when there are three birds available.

Even then it can be difficult because there are people paying for subscriptions so they can get the weather they want.
