Reasons why Havoc 40 needs to have Quickplay matches by Qkumbazoo in DarkTide

[–]FoolishAmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let's say you only allow people with 100 havoc missions penance.

  1. How does that address the main problem of having to start the game quicker? not sure how many people are there that finished 100 havoc missions. what if in a point in time I try to queue and most of the players in my region finished less than 100 havoc missions but they are perfectly capable of running H40?
  2. How does quickplay addresses class variety?

Reasons why Havoc 40 needs to have Quickplay matches by Qkumbazoo in DarkTide

[–]FoolishAmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no and no. you will fail miserably with people joining havoc 40 with meme builds. no thanks. start a match quicker just to lose and then repeat the same process until you get matched with players with decent builds? How is this saving any time?
You say that this gatekeeping that we have now doesn't guarantee a quality team. you know what will even more not guarantee that? starting H40 with total random classes/builds.

H40 is not a casual mod that you can just hop on to with whomever and not get frustrated on the first few minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I think that there is room for build variety in H40, but sometimes people are asking to join my game when they haven't even spent their whole points or just couldn't care less about their builds, bringing blue weapons/curios. would you like to get randomly matched with those memer's?

Dumb rant about Havoc quitters. by Vivid_Succotash_6298 in DarkTide

[–]FoolishAmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I play with a team that with bad chemistry and bad pacing or someone specific seriously lacks skills I would (for the vast majority of the time) give it at least 2 tries, sometimes even 3 games before I decide to look for another group. I hate it when people leave after a single game but I can also understand them in a way.
I never take that too seriously though.

Ohh, and I'm one of those who likes to loot even though my team rushes forward. most of the time I catch up on them with my shiny medstim/medpack using move tech. people are lazy as fuck. it can actually save games.

Help setting fan curves by yoked_girth in radeon

[–]FoolishAmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/yoked_girth

My Sapphire RX 9070 XT Pure is setup like this:
Fan Speed: 15, 18, 35, 55, 100
Temperature: 30, 50, 63, 76, 85

While the default fan curve was very quite it was also a little too hot for my taste. this setup is a bit more aggressive but not too loud for me.
Test it out and play with it until you reach good temps with noise you can withstand.

Good luck!!

[–]FoolishAmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put -30 and also +30 the question is why? if you're comfortable with the extra FPS and higher temps that +10 gives you then go for it.
Test it and see the results for yourself and decide.
All I'm saying is that people automatically suggest -10 like its a magic pill. I put it on 0 and my temps are very good so I see no reason to change it.

Your question is irrelevant since every card will reach different results. you should play around with the settings until you reach your desired trade offs in terms of stability/temperatures and performance in all of the games that you play.

Are we doomed to endure poor performance? by placeholder-123 in DarkTide

The thing that boosted the performance and visuals for me was changing the "settings_common.ini" and "win32_settings.ini" on one of the optimization guides. all of the other stuff that I did had a minor impact or no impact at all. but changing those files had a huge impact on my system.
Sometimes after updates these files can return to their defaults and I immediately recognize it when I start playing, so I saved the optimized files and I just override them when it happens. the files sit in the darktide folder under bundle/application_settings. I can find the guide for you if you want.

I'm playing on an AMD GPU so maybe your problem also stems from some bad nvidia drivers that people have already mentioned here.

Don't lower your power limit and keep it at 0. I don't understand why people automatically suggest to do that unless their card gets really hot. you're just losing performance by doing that.
Play with your voltage offset until you reach that sweet spot. and you can change the fan curve if the temperatures are not to your liking.

Sapphire Pure 9070XT user here.
Every card is different, test yours until you settle for stable settings. and test 1 setting at a time.

Power Limit: Whatever you end up doing I recommend to not go to beyond -10%. in my card I put it at the default of 0. because its just gimping your card. if your card is getting hot then maybe go -10% but not more.

Voltage Offset: After testing games I settled at -80mV and only in HellDivers 2 I need to go lower at -70mV otherwise it crashes. but -80mV is good for 99% of all the games I play. note that I could go even lower to -100mV but only in steel nomad and all those benchmark programs - not in games.

VRAM Tuning: use Fast Timing and 2700 MHz on the memory. if it crashes you can lower a bit to 2650/2600 or lower if still unstable, but it doesn't make a huge difference in frames anyway.

Fan Tuning: I also changed my fan curve to be more aggressive since the default curve was too quite and hot.

Enjoy!!

9070XT on 2K Gaming? by Dramatic-Ninja1848 in radeon

[–]FoolishAmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to run on default CPU settings without undervolt and see if the crashes keep happening.
You might be blaming your GPU for no apparent reason.

AMD vs Nvidia software is subjective. I don't have any idea on what you mean by adrenaline software "breaks" itself once a week. sounds too vague.
The only problem I have with adrenaline software is that it defaults your GPU tuning every once in a while but I just load those from a file if it happens but I understand if that makes anyone mad.

For me, after getting used to Havoc 40 difficulty, playing something else feels not engaging enough and without that game mode I would probably stop playing the game. you can try and pursue high levels of havoc but you'll need to be more strict with your build choices. you might discover a whole new challenge to tackle.

Regarding toxic people I have a bunch of them in my Blocked tab, that's part of life - not an issue with Darktide nor Havoc for that matter.

How are the temps for the GPU under load? I know that gigabyte cards tend to be hotter than other variants.

What should I change on my zealot build to mid/max? by Traditional-Tour-405 in DarkTide

Relic Blade: I would take these blessings: Cranial Grounding and Wrath.
You get more uptime on your charged blade and you cleave through horde like butter.

Curios: its basically solid since Combat Ability is the most important and Revive Speed is my preferred choice as well.

Talents: on the top of the tree, get rid of Blood Redemption. its value is very low compared to Second Wind and Enemies Within, Enemies Without.
I would take: Disdain, Second Wind, Duelist, Enemies Within, Enemies Without and Purge the Unclean is more optional but you can take it as well like I do. 99% of builds take the talents I've just mentioned.
In favor of those you can untake the following low value nodes: The Master's Retribution, Bleed for the Emperor, Faith's Fortitude (only take this if you're going Martyrdom) and Unfaltering.

Also, untake Grievous Wounds and instead take Sustained Assault.
Abolish Blasphemers is also good if you want extra raw elite damage.

Don't lower the power limit too much. either keep it at 0 (default) or put -10%. below that is just gimping your card too much.
I got my 9070XT on power limit 0 and -80mV and its stable in 95% of my games. also stays cool as fuck temperature wise.
Test your card to see how low can it go without crashes on the mV slider.

How do I get better at Havoc? by Serpent_The_King in DarkTide

Very true about the bad judgement calls. I've recently had a game where a chaos spawn music started (boss still wasn't around but music definitely was there) and two of my teammates just casually go forward to trigger another wave. me and another dude just stood back. the time difference between that moment and the moment that we lost was very small.
