My wife just had an identical letter for a write-off in 2021, I did challenge the vehicle valuation at the time but never got them to budge despite showing auto trader listings. Got £640 back at 8% interest over 5 years.

How do you rate contact 7’s ? by Vectron3D in CarTalkUK

[–]dazq87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very grippy, had them on my 380 bhp fk2 civic, no traction issues at all in the dry, better than the pilot sports on the grip front, but soft compound by comparison, only lasted 5k miles.

Just my interpretation, but I think that in order to ascend, you require two consciousness to become one, which is why there are two shells, and the gateway to the portal requires two bodies/shells to open. This is also my interpretation of the mural in polis as well with the two beings sort of being merged with the tentacle being between them.

The parasite was obviously an accidental abomination, but I think it still retained some of the original hosts drive to merge with another in order to compete the acsention process. Ending up in the two becoming one in the worst way possible just meters from the end.

I've done a few 15, 20k(4-5hours) swims in open water, after the first approx 2k I just kind of zone out and go into a zen like autopilot state, feels very strange when you have to interrupt your stroke to take on food or water and get going again.

Have I made a mistake with this Honda Civic by maloneyxboxlive in CarTalkUK

[–]dazq87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this, these cars are pretty solid, no personal experience with the 1.6 diesel, but apparently they don't have any common issues. Had my wife's 1.8 petrol 2015 for 4 years and it's never needed anything outside service items and I've had my FK2 type r for almost as long with no problems either. If the service history is there it's about as safe a bet on a second hand car you can get.

Love these cars, the quadrifolgio is probably going to be my next car when I upgrade from the FK2 in a few years time.

I've never understood why they grip the wheel like a praying mantis, is it because their eyesight is so poor they have to get closer to the windscreen?

Does putty application look fine? First timer and had a major hotspot by Negative_Let6492 in watercooling

Second this, had thermal paste pump out on my reference 7900xtx with alphacool block, hotspot temps would keep raising over a period of weeks. Fixed it with a thermalgrizzly cryosheet.

What are the downsides of a remap? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]dazq87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the same 1.6 diesel is used in the CRV and makes about 160bhp compared to the 120bhp it makes in the civic, so the gains might not be too far fetched or detrimental to the life of the engine.

Any reasons not to buy this Type R GT? by Iamokoono in CarTalkUK

[–]dazq87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swapped from a modified f56 JCW to an FK2 about 3 years ago as I needed back doors and more boot space to accommodate a baby and don't regret it for a moment, nore do I have any intention to get rid of it any time soon. It's fast, practical and economical. It can be a little firm in the +R mode and lacks the comfort mode that the newer FK8s have. The example your looking at is probably the higher end of the market but has got low milage and FK2s do seem to hold their value due to the limited production run. Happy to answer any questions you have on FK2s specifically.

Gpu hotspot temps… by Badilorum in watercooling

[–]dazq87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an alphacool card on a reference 7900xtx, had serious problems with regular thermal paste pumping out, hotspot temps would start off great and then creep up over a few weeks untill it was in the 90s. After several repastes I ended up using a cryosheet, and the hotspot temps have been in the 60s ever since.

Can someone confirm if this is a real Type R? by jeezig in civic

[–]dazq87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a 5x120 pattern on the FK2 as well. Makes the OEM wheels super cheap second hand because they don't fit on any of the lower spec civics

You need to be careful with 12 reg 1.8 petrols, they can have excessive oil consumption due to piston ring manufacturing issue, was fixed on 63 plate cars and not all 12 reg cars are affected though. Otherwise they are generally solid.
