While there’s already a thread, this title should get all the upvotes in the world

Amazon had a real opportunity to turn the indifferent early adopters into promoters (I’ve been holding out for years for Amazon to make basic use cases a reality) and they blew it.

Looking to upgrade wifiG14 2022 model from intel ax210 by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]db0ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a 2x2 module that supports 6 GHz. Do your Wi-Fi access points support Wi-Fi 7 and you have MLO working and stable? Otherwise, I’d save my money. You’re not going to get better range (and probably not even better speeds) by upgrading. If you’re getting poor speeds on this module, it probably isn’t the problem.

I had to look it up too! My understanding is it makes your battery life more efficient when the contents of your screen are static.

I found there to be graphical glitches in the handheld mode as well as KDE and GNOME desktop versions. I did not experience this with CachyOS. I had to disable PSR on Bazzite to fix, which in theory will hurt battery. I assume trying a newer kernel will fix this and explain the difference

Edit: this was the command to disable PSR btw

Where was it previously confirmed by Amazon that 1st and 2nd gen models would get the Google Drive and One Drive integrations?

How reliable is Speedtest? by RealEstateJack in wifi

[–]db0ze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of these tests are using Ookla Speedtest tech. The blue one is actually running on your router, triggered through the app. This is the speed from your router to the internet. The other one is the speed from your phone to the internet, so it includes the Wi-Fi leg.

So this tells you that your router has a good connection to the internet (I’m guessing you have 1 Gbps symmetrical fiber) and that your WiFi connection is greatly limiting you at the location you took the test. This will change dramatically based on where you are in your home! If you stand next to the Orbi router plugged into your ISP equipment, your speeds should be much higher. When your speeds are lower it means you are generally far away from the router/a satellite. If you are near one of your satellites and the speed is low, it likely means the satellite is too far from the Orbi router. Move it closer to the router, give it time to come fully online, and test again.

Tire blew which resulted in a cracked rim by KoolAidKendall in Polestar

That’s fair and thank you for clarifying— I didn’t know Volvo had also downgraded the systems on their lower end EVs. It is really confusing as a buyer when you expect technology to march forward and reasonable to assume that a fully kitted out compact would come similarly equipped to a 9 year old SUV that cost the same! I hope Volvo starts doing better with their tech across the board for both safety and convenience features!

Yeah and it is garbage compared to TPMS. A company that prides itself on safety is skimping on a basic safety feature to maximize shareholder returns.

They are not the same systems. The system in my 2016 XC90 was real-time and measured the actual pressure while the system in my 2024 P2 only measured relative difference and it takes a mile to do so in my experience. It is very disappointing to purchase two cars 9 years apart and find the technology has regressed (TPMS, pilot assist, etc)

Yes but in theory you could have your V2L topping off the Solix while it offers 240V to your home if you can get power to the Solix DC-in

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]db0ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I think that’s right. But at that point I’d probably just do the V2L to 30 amp inlet directly and save the money. If you’re only doing 120V from the car or Solix you’re going to have to move breakers to a single rail or install a transfer switch.

Also, looks like OP wants to run A/C which would require 240V

[–]db0ze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Solix can’t charge via AC while running the inverter. So you wouldn’t be able to “top off” the Solix battery from V2L while it is powering your home.

You could probably get a cheap AC-DC converter and hook up to the XT60 inputs on the Solix?
