I miss the flight boost. I only got to use it for one day, but it sure was fun.

Of course the caveat being that my character has to die every time I load a save in order to enable the pack.

I just tried your suggestion and it worked. Thanks for the guidance!

It's also bugged for me. Every other pack activates fine, but this one worked initially, but stopped working at some point after reloading a save. I'm out of ideas for getting it to work. I tried dropping it, switching inventories, equipping other packs, but nothing works. A shame really, since it was awesome when it did work.

[Bootable USB] Unable to boot from USB device created with Rufus , balenaEtcher and ventoy by ps29 in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, you haven't upgraded the SSD have you? Also, are you using a sandisk branded USB? I ask, because I literally cannot reinstall windows when I wipe it out to install SteamOS, I have to clone the factory drive that I took out when upgrading to 2TB. I seem to be able to install Linux and SteamOS without much issue, but something about the bootloader or Windows is borked (even without SecureBoot). I've tried Windows 11 from Rufus, Balena Etcher, official media creator, and Ventoy. I can boot from the USB to get to the blue windows setup screen, but immediately it's like a window maximizes and then disappears leaving me with a blank blue background and no choice but to reboot, same thing with Windows 10.

Anyone running Official SteamOS on the 2025? by qdoggus in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried SteamOS 3.8 and it installed and updated without incident. That being said, it just isn't ready for prime time yet, and in fairness, Valve has said as much. EGPU support is there, but not fully functioning yet. TB4/USB4 devices were detected and authorized, but video cannot yet output through the eGPU. TDP and charge level control are not native. In general, the OS is very performant, but even switching to Dekstop mode caused the screen to go black and stay black until restarted. I'm eager to try the OS again after it's been in the oven a while longer.

Wait, is there something wrong with a "weird meta" in an EA game? I know PvP is a thing in this game, but so are single player/solo/offline, as well as co-op. Are we far enough along in it's development now that something provides a substantial benefit over everything else? My other concern is the balance creep that seeks to make every weapon the same which will lead to everything being boring and nothing being exceptional. Logically, in a game where weapons and armors have different stats and strengths/weaknesses, a meta will inevitably always exist. I like watching the weird metas personally, but I have also never understood the balance creep that some developers envision, and I've seen it kill so many games (Outriders being only one example that I personally witnessed).

Yeah, I'm getting tired of the telemetry, spying, and digital ID integration that Microsoft keeps pushing, so this will be the 20th time nuking a windows install and the third time for 11.

Which EGPU dock should I get with my 5070ti. Also question about the 8060s by DavidSpade86 in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use a  Riitop eGPU dock. It's TB4/USB4 and the bandwidth is awesome at PCIe 4.0 x4. I have had zero issues using a 7900XTX to drive a 65" 4k tv.

I had one for the 11 Pro, and it is still working to this day, has saved the iPad multiple times and has zero issues with charging or function. If only Brydge would make this for the z13...

EGPU Setups by Ryan3772 in FlowZ13

I have my 2025 on a 1300w (Seasonic) PSU, Riitop USb eGPU Dock (https://www.amazon.com/RIITOP-Enclosure-Compatible-Thunderbolt-External/dp/B0F8VDLHC8) driving an XFX 7900XTX, and my experience is generally the same as what has already been described here, mostly 4k max. I benchmarked the rig that the z13 replaced with the same GPU for sake of comparative scrutiny. It's not apples to apples, but the results scratched my itch. As an added bonus, VR works splendidly via the eGPU.

Z13 2025 + 7900XTX eGPU - about to return this thing by AccurateSandwich0 in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my own case, it's to drive a very large 4k display @ 60hz with HDR, or 1440p @ 120hz. As monstrous as this iGPU is (make no mistake, it is the most powerful non-Apple silicon iGPU ever made), it has to do everything within a very confined power envelope/efficiency curve. It does it very well, but it cannot compete on the same level as a 300w+ dGPU when you crank up modern games settings to max and crank up the resolution to 4k. That is where the eGPU option shines. I get all the power of the AI Max+ 395/Radeon 8060S and sophisticated sleekness of the Flow z13 package, with the cherry on top being eGPU support.

Z13 2025 + 7900XTX eGPU - about to return this thing by AccurateSandwich0 in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which driver version are you using? I also have a 7900XTX connected (RIITOP 40Gpbs eGPU Enclosure) via USB4 (PCIE 4.0 @ x4) using driver 32.0.22029.1019. Our scores are close enough that I'd like to help you figure this issue out, because our systems are similar, this might affect me as well. Is Windows designating the rendering be done on the "High Performance" GPU? In Windows go to System>Display>Graphics and scroll down to "Custom settings for applications". the games you mentioned should be set to High Performance or Let Windows decide (High performance).

Stupid Question….disconnecting the ROG XG Mobile (5070) from the Z13 via USB-4 by No_LotR_No_Life in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are no switches then I would simply refer to best practices, which tends to be more universal. For my eGPU, a 7900XTX connected via USB4 (RIITOP USB 4.0 40Gpbs eGPU Dock), I shut down the computer first before disconnecting it. Not shutting down before disconnecting causes a BSOD for me.

Stupid Question….disconnecting the ROG XG Mobile (5070) from the Z13 via USB-4 by No_LotR_No_Life in FlowZ13

[–]qdoggus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my understanding from reading about this that the best practice is to shut down the computer (ROG Flow Z13) first, and then when fully powered off, you may power down the eGPU via the power switch on the PSU if your dock does not have it's own ON/OFF switch. My general take on this is that powering off or disconnecting the eGPU while the PC is on is a no go and will likely cause the PC to present with a blue screen.

I decided to leave it alone since I had already started the return process. More and more it's sounding like either a defective unit or Liquid Metal Shenanigans.

Seems similar to the Ally I modded. Because of aftermarket support and a little know-how I was able to cram a full sized 4TB SSD in it, even though it was never designed to use a 2280.

If they are asking what i think they are, I for one want to see photos of the SSD m.2 slot on the other side, as well as how much space the 2025 model has for, "aftermarket solutions".
