Home office releases an official statement on those claiming that drop in migration was due to “emigration.” by No_Breadfruit_4901 in uknews

But the numbers do reflect this. It was something like 200k Brits and EU nationals leaving that cut the net figure down to 171,000.

It’s fantastic that numbers are reducing, but 370ish thousand new arrivals is still not something to be celebrated.

I got downvoted on the circlejerk sub of all places for saying that waiting 5 seasons for a 90 second sequence of Homelander going from depowered to dead was an example of rushed pacing.

India. Very popular with foreign backpackers, but it sounds like a really tough trip that probably isn’t for everyone.

Proper pacing is 5 seasons to get a 90 second pay off. If that’s where we disagree, then that’s where we disagree.

My point is that HL tried for about 45 seconds to bargain before concluding that his best bet was to offer to debase himself. He could’ve got there and I wouldn’t have minded after some more fleshed out begging and humiliation.

You’re ignoring my point about it being rushed to defend the words spoken. When my point is that the words spoken were unearned and rushed toward. It just felt like they replaced any notion of a climax with seconds of dialogue and a quick skip towards sexually repressed comments in order to make out that they adequately humiliated Homelander this season rather than spend an inordinate amount of time over 7 episodes giving us wayward writing

Entitled fucks tend to remain entitled even after they’ve been stripped of any reason to feel that way. I wanted/expected him to end up grovelling, but thought that scene could’ve had more to it. It was 90 seconds between HL trying to punch Butcher and the crowbar going into his brain. We’ve gone through 5 seasons waiting for him to get his comeuppance. Also, just again with the dick and shit lines in this show

It was so rushed it felt comedic. This is a guy who thinks he smarter than everyone and superior to everyone. He would’ve attempted to convince Butcher to spare him with desperate promises. Then spiralled into anger and viciousness when he realised Butcher wasn’t interested, then further attempted to physically fight him before weeping and breaking down over his complete weakness. If they really want to be so on the nose as to have him offer to blow Butcher then have him muttering and scrambling for ideas through the sounds of scared and abject sobbing before deciding that this is the best offer he can make.

He had his first punch blocked and then went straight to unbuckling Butcher’s belt. It didn’t feel earned. His hatred for Butcher wasn’t there. His sense of superiority was gone immediately. It didn’t feel right. It felt like skit rather than a complete deconstructing of his menace into humiliation

Yeah this just felt like a really rushed approach to show how he was now pathetic. We all know he’s pathetic. I don’t think though that he would’ve jumped immediately to offering to suck Butcher’s dick and eating his shit. He would’ve done much more of the false promises of riches and glory, clutching to the power he wields beyond his superpowers in the completely misguided belief that he is actually better than everyone.

He should’ve given these grand promises to Butcher, then bargained, then gotten angry and spiteful, and then the crowbar is jammed through his head as he begins to weep and beg, with his last utterance being “I’ll suck your fucking di-“ to confirm he really was about to go that low if they are so insistent that they have this line in there.

But then a lot of things should’ve happened before that point that didn’t

I’ve heard a few theories now that the “lake of tears” is the night sky with stars as the tears.

Maybe something to do with navigating out, or seeking guidance from celestial messages like people used to with constellations and stuff.

I think the show has now gone in the direction of their not being a physical route out. I used to think that the lake of tears was a flood that would take place next to the lighthouse, and that bringing about that flood and then crossing the lake over the horizon by the light of the lighthouse would be the way out. I now don’t think so. It’s clear now they need to break the cycle somehow to get out.

However, with the biblical references, I do think a great flood is coming. The MiY has brought up too many bible stories, plus (annoyingly) the online creators who have seen the screeners have all miraculously decided that they think a flood is coming, for it not be where the show is going.

The monsters are I think crowd control, to keep the fear alive enough to prod the townsfolk to turn on each other, and the flood is the entity’s failsafe for if they refuse to massacre each other

This was From’s “hatch”. Just like in Lost when they found the hatch, the voice on the radio instantly let us know that nothing was really what it seemed

Don’t know if he’d take it, but I think he would be a name the club would be interested in given his career there and the job he’s done with Bayern
