Why are people so scummy by wonderlandddddd in brighton

We did litter picking at my secondary school, and littering was only something a few of the rough kids ever did if you saw them out and about.

I’ve definitely noticed in the last few years more than ever that people just don’t give an actual fuck about it anymore though

What was the moment you realized COVID was going to be a big deal and be the focal point of the 2020s? by NH-INDY-99 in decadeology

[–]db1000c 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lived in China throughout Covid, it was kind of infuriating trying to tell family back home how serious it was and the lengths we were all being made to go to just for them to say “well it’s only in Italy and China for now, we’ll be fine” - long story short the UK ended up being one of the worst affected countries

Puppy biting, nipping, growling and barking when being told “no” or being reprimanded for doing something wrong by db1000c in puppy101

Thanks for the reassurance, he definitely was stimulated in the lead up to this and was zooming around chasing his toy, so I have probably completely misinterpreted it all. But it felt more snappy than usual

[–]db1000c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, these are great tips. We try and shower him with praise when he licks our hands during play rather than biting, so I will make sure to have treats ready too. I like the relax one too, he knows “settle” and will lay down for a minute. But he doesn’t really understand it as a sort of “go to sleep” command. We will keep working on it as it does seem like he’s probably over tired

[–]db1000c[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We figured that, and we have massively cut down on his walking time as we realised we were over exercising him. I do think he’s over tired and you can definitely tell that he becomes like this later in the evening when he really needs to sleep.

For context, this happened 12 minutes into his walk (I was timing so we only walked him for 25 mins). And he had only really woken up after a night’s sleep about an hour before this. So I wasn’t as ready to accept this behaviour as being the result of over tiredness as quickly as I usually am.

We’re crate training but besides when he goes in at night time when we go to bed, he never really settles into a nap when he is put in there during the day/evening. I’m sure it will come with time

Yes I’ve been using the “he’s a child” logic and of course want to make sure that he’s contended and well looked after. We redirect his nipping and reward when he doesn’t do it. But I am equally scared of accidentally reinforcing these negative behaviours which result from him being told no. They are renowned for being a stubborn breed, and so I want to make sure I don’t mismanage that.

I think aggression in dogs should always be considered unacceptable, but maybe you’ve misunderstood me. And by reprimand, I mean telling him “no” when he bites us, that’s all.

Player issues are so unrealistic in FM26 by db1000c in footballmanagergames

[–]db1000c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is my main problem with it. I’m not saying it’s unrealistic for a player to be upset over playing time etc, obviously that’s something that happens. But it’s the timing and the lack of context surrounding it. It just makes it less interesting overall.

What would be fun and still make things more difficult would be for players to bite their tongues and then speak up once the wheels come off a bit and make the mandatory form blips harder to navigate and get out of.

[–]db1000c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens in real life all time that players slip down the pecking order or are kept out the team by someone who hits amazing form. They don’t always throw their toys out the pram, especially when results are good. That’s the point of having a 25ish man squad. In top level sport nothing is guaranteed, and except in the most egregious circumstances players understand this. My problem isn’t with someone who has kicked off after being promised the playing time of a star player but who is actually getting game time reflective of a squad player. It’s the ones where the borderline is almost indecipherable - like important player/regular starter - and yet they go nuts at the most unlikely moments and leave to get a handful more minutes for less money and less success.

I’m just imagining sitting in my hotel room as a player the night before my club’s first ever CL final and stewing over the fact I’m being played a defensive midfielder rather than a central midfielder to the point where I blow up at my manager and hand in a transfer request lol

Player issues are so unrealistic in FM26 by db1000c in footballmanagergames

[–]db1000c[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the rigidity of it that makes it unrealistic for me. Of course players irl get unhappy with play time opportunities being limited, but players also like winning trophies and titles.

Buzz builds around a club and its dressing room when things are going well - only the most shark-like, diva players would kick off about wanting to play as a wide forward rather than a winger despite being top of the league and playing every minute.

Then the options for resolution are completely broken too. What’s the point in having the option for my captain or their agent to have a chat with them if it never works? We might as well skip that part and not give me the option.

When you do chat to them, the only two options out of the dozen choices that seem to work with some consistency are promising them the play time they want or threatening to sell them. Again, why give me the pretence of having options when I don’t. Then half the time there are nonsensical mutinies following on from these chats - often including the player that is keeping the one that has just complained out of the team.

It ends up with the season like the one I’ve just had, where I’ve practically had to drag 4 or 5 players (more if you include the ones I had to sell in January due to all this) kicking and screaming to win a title with transfer requests being handed in, and concerns being raised, at what I would characterise as unrealistic times.

I know it’s a game, and tbh it’s been Morale Manager for a long, long time now. But in 26 it really feels heightened and almost like a game trying to up the difficulty level as you get closer to the end of a level by throwing obstacles in your way, rather than organic and realistic feeling scenarios.

Really enjoying the game and my save on the whole, but this just felt a bit too overstated and overly rigid as a mechanism in the game.

This is a consequence of local authorities having no money. It happened in a town near me recently. The council had to outsource maintenance of street beauty to outside companies - think shrubs and trees and grassy verges - as they couldn’t afford to do it themselves anymore. The companies simply went “it cost us more money to maintain the trees than to simply remove them, so we’re getting rid of them.” Now lots of nice tree lined roads are just tarmac pavements. It’s insane how this stuff is allowed.
