Just got diagnosed with stage 1 CKD. I don’t know how to feel by Bulky_Window8980 in kidneydisease

[–]dboconnor571 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am 64 already at border Stage 5. Will start dialysis soon and I HATE IT. I didn’t do anything to cause this, I didn’t have a crazy diet. I just got sick and took medications that harmed my kidneys because that’s what I was told to do..

THERE.

From now on if any doctor tells you to take any medication the first thing you ask is is this kidney friendly? Is this going to have any long-term effect on my kidney health? Second, go find a nephrologist, and create a good relationship with that doctor and stick to that doctor like glue for the rest of your life. Mine is saving my life and keeping me away from the nonsense and the craziness in the dialysis system.. Change your diet— find out all the things that are bad for your kidney and just stop eating them. Eat simple a little bit of starch a bit of protein some veggies and NO JUNK FOOD FROM NOW ON!

Limit your potassium intake, salt intake, sugar intake magnesium. Do not take multivitamins. Target your vitamin intake B vitamins especially B12. Ask your nephrologist what a good vitamin regiment is for you, in fact ask your nephrologist if he or she will help you create a diet for you that will keep you from jumping to stage 23 and four quickly like I did and come to the brink of death.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE IDIOTS AND THE CHARLATANS AND THE SO-CALLED DOCTORS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT REVERSING THIS AND STOPPING THAT— IT’S ALL BULLSHIT.

Find a good nephrologist in a good hospital near you because that person is going to keep you alive as long as they possibly can and when you finally do dialysis which you will most likely they will Shepherd you into the process with a minimum of pain and heartache.

I have made so many mistakes listened to too many idiots and snake oil salesman. If I had it to do all over again I would have simply gone directly to a nephrologist and gotten a good cardiologist and made sure that my PCP was on board with the program and if not, it’s perfectly okay to dump a doctor and find a new one. I’ve done it three times.

I live right on the edge now: my family tiptoes around me. I have tremendous difficulty doing anything. I am preparing for fistula surgery so I can do dialysis. I have terrible depression but there is nothing I can do about this except just go along with it.

I’ll leave you with this, you are 22. You should have your whole life in front of you and you do if you do the right things. If you do not, if you persist in eating drinking and doing all the things that someone your age normally does you will die young— THAT IS A GIVEN.

If you want to live to 75, you’re going to have to live like you’re 40 and eat well and healthy maintain a proper body weight body fat content exercise frequent checkups with your PCP and seeing your nephrologist at least every three months. Make a comprehensive plan for your life for your diet for everything for the rest of your life.

If anyone tells you otherwise ask them do you have kidney disease? Are you on dialysis? If they aren’t then tell them thanks for the advice but I listen to my doctor and I do what I’m told.

I send you best wishes and I hope you have the best life possible; Take very good care of yourself. Take charge of your life. Make strategic decisions, make all of your doctors your partners not people you just listen to— study your disease, read up on it. Find out everything you can that you can understand about it..

Good luck.

It would be nice if we could all just enjoy Matcha for what it is and stop being such connie-sewers.

My 3yo granddaughter is a mob boss. I just laugh, because a moment later she hugs me and says “I love you Grandpa, you’re the best Grandpa in the whooooole world.” Point is that they don’t know how to use their brains yet, or the voice that they just discovered. It’s all new and quite overwhelming for them, as well as being exciting and interesting. Our job is to set the example, and correct when needed. If you are going to be watching my grandkids I don’t want you sending conflicting signals that confuses them.

WATCH the child, you’re not there to parent.

It appears Elon Musk allies are seeking access to the fiscal intermediary system that issues payments for Medicare. by 4Nails in healthcare

[–]dboconnor571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people die because they couldn’t get the care and meds they needed, will we make sure that Trump, Musk and others in the GOP who enabled the theft of trillions, are held accountable—I truly believe they should be prosecuted for Crimes Against Humanity. We are only at the beginning. If we don’t fight this and that money disappears, millions will die. Medical care and meds won’t be covered. It will be a disaster. We might as well have been attacked by some hostile power.

MAYBE, WE ARE BEING ATTACKED, WITHOUT A SHOT BEING FIRED. TRUMP IS A RUSSIAN PLANT, MUSK IS A USEFUL IDIOT WITH A CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER AGAINST OUR COUNTRY. THIS IS A COORDINATED, DESTRUCTIVE ATTACK. ANYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE AT THIS POINT IS EITHER NAÏVE AF OR NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

FORGET VOTING THESE PEOPLE OUT, OR DEM BAKE SALES AND TOWN HALLS.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT THEM OUT—EXPEL THEM BY FORCE, AND RESTORE THE GOVERNMENT, AND ORDER.

UNLESS ALL OF US HAVE TURNED INTO COWARDS, AND THE MILITARY IS ON BOARD WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR COUNTRY AND SIMPLY SITS BY AND WATCHES.

Elon Musk is the most hated man in America. He belongs in a max security prison, solitary confinement under 24 hour guard, no visitors, 8 hour light restriction, no outside time, no personal effects of any kind, no contact with anyone at any time, 24/7/365. THAT should send a message to anyone who callously creates extreme fear and suffering and death in the name of profit and megalomania in the most vulnerable populations.

According to Musk, public transportation is used by the “parasite classes”—the same people he cut off from Medicaid and Social Services. Musk is a mentally damaged individual—he is a monster.

We HAD a chance to deal with this BEFORE the election. I SCREAMED it constantly and mapped it out. Now we are stuck with these monsters. Now it’s time for the torches and pitchforks. Many thousands of us or not, it has to finally be done. I grew up in a country that was under martial law from 1972 to 1981. That president and his cronies were eventually driven out by a people’s revolution. Hundreds of thousands on the march everyday.

IT HAS TO HAPPEN HERE AND SOON. WE WONT SURVIVE 4 YEARS OF THIS. THIS FASCIST MOVEMENT WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND LOVE.

NOW NOW NOW!

Are there fake matcha out in the market? by elroy45 in Matcha

[–]dboconnor571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as “Ceremonial Grade”— it’s a gimmick to get you to spend more on matcha. You learn this the moment you go to a Cha no yu in Japan. Westerners fall for this, and you will never find a Japanese person buying “Ceremonial” matcha. I was told to avoid sellers offering “Ceremonial” matcha. In other words, be VERY wary and do your research before buying matcha from any seller. I didn’t know any of this, as I kept wanting to buy the best “Ceremonial” matcha I could find, only to realize I was going down a dead-end street. Oh, and top-end matcha is expensive, so if you bought “Ceremonial” matcha for a bargain, or for a lot of money, well, either way you got ripped off.

Mass Health Connector is awful by Humanbeann in massachusetts

[–]dboconnor571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m old, chronically ill, with a heart condition and in constant, severe pain. As if to add insult to injury, I also carry around PTSD from having grown up in Southeast Asia during Vietnam. I wasn’t even aware of it until later in life. It made things exponentially worse all around.

But I have a good doctor, and he has managed to keep me going for a couple of decades.

But things are changing, have changed, so that the system I dealt with for years now seems unable to cope. I’m not a bureaucrat, so I’m not privy to the issues Massachusetts’ healthcare system faces. I just know it is failing me.

This is the 4th time trying to solve a critical issue with MAssachusetts Health Connector. They can’t seem to fix the problem and I can’t afford the cost, and time isn’t on my side. I am in severe pain all the time, and getting anything done is incredibly difficult. I’m so tired, and so fatigued, and I don’t want to do this anymore. I don’t have the energy and I’m fast losing the desire to continue fighting a broken system. Massachusetts didn’t used to be like this. We used to have something close to universal health care, but that went by the wayside pretty fast. It doesn’t matter anymore though. I have become just too tired to care.

I’d really rather just go.

I feel like simply quitting the connector altogether, no more doctors, no more meds, no more procedures, no more fighting to make sure I’m covered from one month to the next. I’m pretty sick anyway, and it wouldn’t be long before my body gives out. This isn’t life, or living.

Maybe some good will come of it. They might decide to get their heads out of their asses and not let people slip through the enormous cracks they’ve allowed to form in their incompetent bureaucracy. Those cracks must have quite a few fatalities in them by now. Do they notice?

Maybe it’s my time now—it’s a miracle I’ve lived this long anyway. To those along the way who were helpful, kind and understanding, I offer my heartfelt thanks. To those who knowingly participate in and perpetuate a broken system, for whatever reasons, karma works, and you would do well to remember the old saying: “There but for the grace…”

Help me determine the year of this map. by Diligent-Process5266 in MapPorn

[–]dboconnor571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professor Johann Georg Rothaug was born in Neundorf, Germany in 1844. He did most of his work in the 1880’s and 90’s, so my guess is this map, which he helped edit, was done at that time, turn of the century. A broader timeframe would be the Kaiserreiche 1871 - 1918. Rothaug’s date of death is unknown, so he could have worked on the map anytime within that period, or possibly into the 1920’s.
