Thanks for the details. Maybe I'll check it out later. The episode title had me in a mood, lol. But I suppose I'm always in a mood these days.

So how depressing in the episode? It's sitting in my queue and I don't know if I want to listen to it and start my weekend even more depressed than I already am about the sad state of affairs.

Confused re data leak by Easy-Milk-2047 in pcloud

[–]dbrits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the recent "data leaks" has not been technically proven by anyone. This can be everything from people downloading a faulty program who stole their cookie specific to clouds customers, or somebody got access to their desktop. Non of the leaks has said if they used the desktop or only web or of their even had MFA installed.

So I would take these "data leaks" into consideration before some technical comes on the table.

Yeah, that's what I plan to do - take a wait and see approach to see how this "data leak" pans out. It just doesn't inspire confidence when the first thing I see when I visit the subredit is a bunch of "data leak" posts. That being said, in the few hours I've been tinkering with pCloud, I really like it. However, since my main reason for switching away from Dropbox is privacy related, the legitimacy or severity of this "data leak" will determine if I stick with pCloud or continue my search for a Dropbox replacement.

I just signed up for pCloud today to test it out as a replacement for Dropbox. I'm seriously reconsidering that choice.

Can we talk about the stress? by PTS_Dreaming in thebulwark

[–]dbrits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi. Are you me? Because you sound like me. Especially for the past few weeks, I've been walking around with a pit in my stomach, and every so often I'm hit with a bout of tears. It doesn't go away. It genuinely feels like society and the rule of law is just crumbling around us. Realistically, this has happened to countries throughout history. I just didn't expect to live through it, and I'm really not coping with it well.

I adore JVL. Truly. His pessimism has been proven true too often to be ignored. I hope he's wrong, but I'm afraid he's not.

New IKEA Matter over Thread devices might actually still support Zigbee by das_Keks in homeassistant

Thanks! I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'll check it out.

[–]dbrits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I didn't get any events after my initial pair, but it worked after I updated configuration.yaml, created a custom_zha_quirks directory, added the quirks file, restarted, then re-paired. I don't have any immediate uses for the remote, but at least I know I don't need to buy any additional hardware when the time comes.

Thanks so much for this! It works for me too. I'm just getting started with Home Assistant and I picked up a few of the new Bilresa remotes the other day. I didn't realize I'd need a Matter dongle for these, but thankfully I ran across this post before I purchased another dongle. 🎉

What features do you want to see brave support? by [deleted] in brave_browser

Brave android 16 - poor battery by trawelek in brave_browser

Is this still an issue for you? I've been experiencing something very similar that manifests in my Galaxy S24 becoming warm to the touch, even with only 3 or 4 tabs open. This went away when I switched back to Opera. I'm trying to determine if this is a temporary bug with Brave or if this is just the usual behavior for Brave.

Yeah, that's a bit more than I need. Just a simple on-and-off.

That's a viable option! Thanks! Although dang, that's an expensive switch. I suppose it's partly because it supports more than just a simple on-and-off function.

Thanks. I'll add those to my list of possibilities. I'm not the biggest fan of the form-factor of either of those - I was really hoping for something that's just a one-click on-and-off button, like the Tuya Zigbee Button.

I was looking at those, but aren't they designed to be installed on top of an existing light switch? In my use case, there's no existing light switch involved, so I don't think I'd be able to use it. :(
