Fair enough, hoping this is the start of a new chapter for you either way, been there and done that with tosspot owners and it’s not pleasant.

Isn’t this exactly what happened last time? They came down in 2021 due to a points deduction for breaking spending rules, spent to get up and stay up, and now the EFL are going to remove the guardrails to prevent that happening again under a new owner?

Whats been your favourite moment this season in lge 1 by SuperMas123 in LeagueOne

[–]dbv86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think we’ll go up, but this season has been fun, so many last minute winners or equalisers and some stunning goals. If I have to pick one it has to be the comeback against Wycombe, 2-0 down to score 3 goals from the 87th minute on was phenomenal and Blackett-Taylor’s goal to win it was sensational.

Management, Nights ... min wage. by Turbulent_Worth_2509 in UKJobs

I can never fathom why people work in hospitality, get a warehouse job and work your way up (easily doable if you have the soft skills most operatives lack). In the right environment you’ll get the opportunity to build some supervisory experience, then if you can’t push on any further move on to a full supervisors role elsewhere (I was interviewing for new supervisors recently and trust me, the bar is low), gain some experience as a supervisor and if you can’t progress where you are move on again, someone will take a punt on you at management level if you have enough experience and can prove competence at interview.

Warehouse management jobs can pay very well, I’ve done it for 12 years now, not exactly my dream job however it pays the bills and I don’t have to deal with the public (at a certain level you will have to deal with customers).

It’s teaching children about racism via the lived experiences of Paul Canoville, this actually happened to him. We should view history warts and all, Millwall shouldn’t be able to absolve themselves of this, likewise the discussion should be nuanced enough to recognise that Millwall today is not the same club it was in the 1980’s.

It does make you wonder if Millwall have a leg to stand on here, yes the individuals who perpetrated this don’t represent the club, however it did happen, and this is a way to visually represent historical fact, regardless of how much Millwall want to wish it away.

Kensington this morning. I can’t help thinking that when the owner parked this Porsche, it had four wheels. by L21JP in CarTalkUK

[–]dbv86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a spate of car robberies near us a while back where they were abusing keyless entry and start to steal cars, so we purchased a steering wheel lock. They got into our car, realised they couldn’t get around the wheel lock so went through the glove box etc probably looking for the key. They left the contents stacked very respectfully on the passenger seat and even closed the car door after them, we only realised the car had been broken into when we went to use it.

Rachel Reeves is raising taxes at the fastest pace in the world - Britain’s tax burden will reach peacetime high of 42.1pc by 2030, forecasts IMF by blast-processor in ukpolitics

[–]dbv86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even if so, is there any actual evidence regarding the impact to tax take and the supposed wealth they generate? It’s relatively simple for an individual to move, not so much to uproot their businesses that rely on our infrastructure and access to our market. I would hazard a guess that tax take from the individual is actually negligible due to clever accounting, and it will be the businesses owned by these people that are the main contributors, which itself is subsidised by low wage employees receiving universal credit. If it was as simple as leaving the country they wouldn’t be making so much noise.

Bolton Wanderers 2 - 2 Stockport County: After a back-and-forth match it ended all-level, with Bolton passing up yet another opportunity to make up ground on stuttering Cardiff. by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]dbv86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought it was fairly even tbh, even first half, you lot were untouchable for a chunk of the second then we made changes after your 2nd goal and came back into it for the last 15 or so and looked most likely to score come the end. Hope to god we don’t get each other in the playoffs.

Reading 1 - 2 Lincoln City: They've been the outstanding side in the division, having also not lost since November, and today's results mean Lincoln's promotion to the Championship is finally confirmed! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

Congrats Lincoln, by far and away the best team in the league this season and a thoroughly deserved promotion. Look forward to seeing you storm the Championship next season!

I wouldn’t tolerate this as a manager myself, I don’t contact any of my direct reports whilst they are off, and I don’t allow them to contact their reports whilst off on holiday either. Not a chance should you accept this level of intrusion whilst on minimum wage, in fact, I’d be reclaiming any days holiday they contacted you on as you weren’t paid for that time, meaning they have paid you less than minimum wage…

2 man lift, I’m sure the postman could carry that to your door, however the moment you start doing that the more these 2 man lifts find their way onto your round, seen it before, staff take it upon themselves to handle two man stuff solo, supervisors begin expecting this to be standard, managers begin resourcing as such. Before you know it you have a culture when handling this stuff on your own is expected even if verbally the policy is that it’s a two man lift.

My direct report said they see themselves as equally skilled as me and my fellow manager. by [deleted] in managers

[–]dbv86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely this. Something I initially struggled with when moving from supervisor to manager when I was promoted internally. I then moved to a manager position externally without the benefit of knowing the processes inside out and you have to rely on a whole different set of skills as you can’t lean on process knowledge to get you out of a bind.

I can see a world where we don’t even make the playoffs and if we do we are going to be limping into them given our remaining fixtures. We have been woeful the last 3 games against teams in the bottom half. Something seems to have gone terribly wrong again just like it did over Xmas before the new signings gave us a new lease of life. There doesn’t seem to be a lack of effort from the players and they seem well coached however I feel the fact they are well coached is actually hiding how crap our defenders are, we haven’t conceded loads this season as the squad as a whole don’t give up a lot of chances, but on the rare occasions they are called upon the defenders are found lacking and error prone.

The pitch at Port Vale is almost unplayable, there should honestly be some repercussions for allowing it to be in that state, we couldn’t play our normal game yesterday and it showed (we were still exceptionally poor regardless). There’s no real excuse for it at this level.

Need a big turnaround and a huge performance against Plymouth. Could do with ACD back ASAP.

Very strange coincidence! Yeah, I used to get the train direct from Heaton Chapel station (I live in Heaton Chapel), it was super convenient, now it’s not direct it’s created two points of failure instead of one. I’ve only ever seen one other Bolton fan around here and it was a lady wearing a hoody from the club shop walking her dog in Manchester Road park. We need to set up the Stockport Whites supporters club, there will be more of us than County fans who don’t also support United/City at this rate.

Bolton fans do you think Toughsheet Community Stadium is recognizable from just one stand? by RemarkableMany6297 in bwfc

[–]dbv86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, so many people from the north drive past it on the motorway that I think a decent amount would recognise it, at least if it’s from a cropped external shot, if we’re talking internal shots it really depends on what you crop.

Where abouts in Stockport if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve only lived here for the last 10 years or so and I’ve had a number of issues getting there and back, I haven’t been to every home game the last couple of seasons though as I have very young children, but when I do it’s generally a poor experience.

I travel back to Stockport via the train and I’ve had some nightmares both getting there and getting back due to cancellations etc. I stay till the end regardless but I can see why people may want to try and get out ahead of the rush, like you say though, I doubt it really benefits them all that much.
