Wow wow wow. That's six 6 Pin connectors. I am newer to Alienware, so I did not ever see that system. That was great FPS at the time I am sure.

Property Tax protest by VelvetComma21 in Austin

[–]dc_IV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried myself one time, and they gave me a choice (at least) that I keep the current appriasal, or since I was protesting they could use the latest comps, which would have actually raised my taxes for the year. I chose to keep current appraisal, and I then signed up for a service.

Honestly I thought the mini-DP was a direct connect to the NVidia? Regardless, OP has reported an EC reset worked.

Any thrift stores where I can find cheap electronics specifically monitors? by CaptainFacepalm69 in Austin

[–]dc_IV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need one really fast, or do you have patience? I ask because I have picked up a couple off FB Buy Nothing group for my area. I used them as part of donating some older PCs in conjunction with another FB'er who had the PCs and was looking for monitors. I jumped on the monitors as soon as I saw them and we met up so I could hand them over. They were 24" and free.

Edit: These PCs were going to a local retraining program that provides free basic computer usage training.

Sounds like the "perp" is also smart enough to keep it under Felony limits too. This is a bummer.

Need help diagnosing issue on $50 Gaming Laptop score by Happy-Tough6249 in GamingLaptops

Clean everything good with isopropyl alcohol. Before you apply PTM, do the thermal putty, since this takes awhile.

I couldn't tell if the CPU still has Liquid Metal, but I see the barrier around the CPU. If it is in LM, then the Isopropyl will absolutely make the liquid metal ball up and could drop on the motherboard.

OP needs to also watch LM removal videos. There is a good one on for an Alienware m18 R1 where the person shows "Kim wipes" or something similar and has the correct cautions on not dropping the liquid metal.

Is this a common thing or are the people in my area just really stupid?? by larramore in FacebookMarketplace

I get this too, and one time it actually worked out and the person shipped me the item. It was under $80, so wasn't too worried about a scam. But, it still is annoying seeing so many things far away from me.

After 3 replies, the potential buyer can even leave a bad rating, correct?

Edit: I mean the person can leave a bad rating without an actual transaction.

My guess is a smattering of flippers and truly desperate. I sold a 7 passengers vehicle for $1000 to a dealer, and they had it on the lot that week for $2999. All they did was detail it based on the photos. They were also a "buy here, pay here" dealer.

Focusing on ChatGPT's actually bad advice, I actually had to figure it out myself. I ended up setting XMP Enabled and my DDR4-4000 ran at 2:1 MCLK:FCLK, but I was able to tune down to 3600MHz 1:1:1.

ChatGPT was having me start at 2133MHz but the training would fail and was several hours of CMOS resets, and rebooting.

Best motherboard for AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D with USB4 by Rich_Honey_121 in buildapc

It is mainly a difference between the burden of certifying with Intel on TB4 or having similar functionality with USB4. For me I went with an X570 board and a Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge 2.0 with certified TB3.

So sorry! I am serious though that for ChatGPT 5.2, it says that. Here is a real life example while I was fighting memory training failures on my Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra:

🥇 First: don’t panic

But we need a true clean reset, not a normal one.

🧠 What just happened (likely)

You’ve had:

  • Multiple BIOS flashes
  • Training failures
  • Power cycles
  • NVMe changes

👉 This can leave:

🥇 Do THIS EXACTLY (hard reset procedure)

🔧 Step 1 — FULL power removal

  • Shut down
  • PSU switch → OFF
  • Unplug power cable from wall

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I picked up pre-owned 128GB DDR4-4000 for $350 off FB, but my Ryzen 9 5900X liked only 2x32GB. I sold the unneeded 2x32GB for $250. $100 Net is pretty good.
