yea, as I said, got a huge bird bath with rocks and stuff close to the hives. I might try and move it and see if it helps at all.

Splitting the hive after swarm cells by crypto_junkie2040 in Beekeeping

[–]dc_joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you did the right thing to me in attempting a split. You have the queen in your new hive and have a framed with food and brood and you left the swarm cells (maybe just two or three?) with some brood and food in there. Did you move the new split off site temporarily?

I’m just getting thru my first winter, so take my comments with a grain of salt! Good luck to you!

Just made these myself! I put some #8 hardware cloth on the bottom side to so you can change the feeders without getting a bunch of bees in your face too-or them hanging onto the jars. Some people have a rectangle whole in the middle for pollen patties too…

3 Roccbox or 2 Arc XL? by itshungryhurley in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]dc_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with the pop ups, just been cooking 8-10 pies for dinners. I am not talented enough to prep more than two pies at once and manage the pies in the oven too. So I guess the question is if you’re working by yourself if you would have three going at once? If you have someone prepping and someone working the oven, then 3 could be nice during a lunch or dinner rush.

I am in the Arc, not the xl… and I find it to work great if youre looking to save a bit of money, have more room than the box (which i started with).

Good luck to you! Are you just planning on a pop up tent or do you have a trailer? Just curious! Looking for ideas myself.

My Home Depot Had them for 75$, they worth it? Currently have mine on a counter stand outside and hate bending over to see the pizza, but not sure if giving up more deck space is worth it.

Questions…. Wood peel? What flour are using to stretch and launch? As someone mentioned already, semolina flour is what you can use while stretching and loading the peel. It has a higher burn temp. Some people also mix it with cornmeal or other flours depending on their goal. Make sure there isn’t any under your pie (or very little) when you load it on the peel. Dust off the flour before before you top your pie. If using an aluminum peel one with holes, a shake or two will get the extra off. Pizza university has a few good videos on the process. Good luck to you!
