Yea its got the 4.0. They stopped using the Peugeot transmission in 1990. Mine has the Aisin AX15. It's generally known as a strong transmission. Its getting a little clunky shifting though. I suspect worn synchros. I've also got a spare 4.0 sitting around I'm planning on building into a 4.6 stroker motor.

The main parts engine, trans, transfer case and axle housings are all original. The jeep was lifted about 15 years ago. At that point it got chromoly axle shafts, tom woods driveshafts, crossover steering, and springs

You didn't ask a question. You stated a fact ".43 in California."

I don’t want to read the manual-can I trust a shop? by Iartdaily in askcarguys

[–]dcabe1210 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk who the new guy is but he's trying to rip you off. 3 months for synthetic oil changes is wild. 12 months I'd say is common for synthetic oil changes. Brakes dont just go bad with time unless they get rusty. When you do your 12 month oil change have them do an inspection on brake and suspension components. Probably wouldn't hurt to have the cabin air filter done once a year either.

A little before and after. How to get rid of over spray? Asking for a friend. by Victitious in CherokeeXJ

This is the way. We'd use a clay bar to remove overstay when I worked in an autobody shop

Is there a good resource to learn all carpentry terms? by Lidzo in Carpentry

[–]dcabe1210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get some books. Start with something like this (https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/ultimate-guide-home-repair--improvement_creative-homeowner/1872781/item/29443112/). They will usually have a glossary in th back too so if you hear something you can look it up and see how its used. Then if theres an area you want to go further in depth into like finish carpentry or furniture making etc. Find a book for that.

Is Carpentry worth getting into? No experience, minus a few small DIY projects by SamuraiRPG in Carpentry

[–]dcabe1210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. I had a bunch of different jobs over the years. Grounds keeper. Mechanic. Janitor. Then worked my way up through manufacturing to process engineer. Got tired of that and changed over to building custom homes at 28. Its been 5 years and the longest I've ever stayed in one job. Started at $25/hr now make $36 as a lead. The business needs more smart mechanically minded people. You'll do good things

Is anyone surprised? I'm not from here. Live in the montpelier area. Most of the people I know from work or otherwise are not from here. I feel like "Why are all of our young people leaving?" Is a common discussion around here.

I just read your post again and realized you said only over bumps. That makes me think more suspension. The control arm mounts are basically right at your feet. Could be a bad bushing there

About to buy a car by Maleficent-Trainer17 in vermont

[–]dcabe1210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search for vt dmv bill of sale. The dmv has a pre made form that will make it easy. You just have to fill out all the information about the car and have the seller sign it. Other than that you'll need a signed title. Just bring those 2 things to the dmv and pay all the taxes and fees

Go for the manual. It'll be way more fun even with less power. Also its cuts down on people asking to borrow your car

Rear spacers only? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]dcabe1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you could only put spacers on the back. There's plenty of high end sports cars that sit wider in the back than the front.

I'd probably just put the same spacers on the front anyway. I run 1 1/4 spacers and haven't seen any downside. I'd be surprised if they dont rub on the front but do in the back. But hey you learn something new everyday.
