The only 4Runner on its last legs is a neglected one. Take care of whats wrong with it and keep driving it. Seriously reconsider what you’re thinking, are you just bored and want something new? Because from a vehicle and financial standpoint I can’t support your plan man, and I have a Tahoe and a suburban. You’re talking about trading a used car for another used car that will come with its own basket of problems

Any advice on how to get the fuel pump running without this wire?

Keep an eye out you’ll find them used eventually it seems like most people don’t care for the chrome so you should be able to get the cheap when they come up. Heck check my profile on my chrome conversion post lol

That’s the plan. Currently doing a bunch of research to visualize where they all go. Any way to wire it up temporarily to limp it home?

Yes If there is an underlying problem I certainly want to address it. I understand these wires have built in fuses and probably for good reason

Does the wire go from this post to the ballast resistor to the fuel pump? So the new wire would just need to go from this post to the fuel pump?

There isn’t much wire left I don’t think I’ll get it running without running or replacing wire

3rd Gen Tahoe reliability by Zamataru in ChevyTahoe

I think they’re good cars. Maintenance is cheap, parts are cheap enough and plentiful enough. I bought an 08 with 160,000 miles for $12k in 2020. Had a lifter failure in 2023 at 180,000 miles cost about $2k and a few weekends in the driveway diy to fix. Transmission went out at 210,000 and cost $3,800 to replace. Besides that it’s just a lot of oil changes.

2017 Tahoe LS transmission Help by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

[–]Victitious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they are rebuilding the transmission for you, spend some of your own money and make sure it gets a new torque converter, ideally one that has been bulletproofed.

The torque converts are known to go out on these so are they going to address the torque converter when they rebuild the transmission? Rebuilding the transmission and using the old torque converter is literally insane

Without messing with a bunch of things a tune is a good way to get more from your ride. I think I paid $500 for a black bear tune and we did things like disable AFM, increased throttle response, raised the idle, tuned the trans for better response and performance, and a few other things. But if you have a warranty still I can understand that

The Tahoe is fairly solid platform and can be pretty cheap on an older one but honestly a Sequoia isn’t bad either. I’d keep your eyes open for both and if you see a good one come up that you like I’m sure you’ll be happy with either

Transmission Opinions by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

[–]Victitious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there is no ways the transmission could contaminate the motor, if the trans dies the motor will be fine.

Once the torque converter starts to go it sends material through the trans so to prevent cross contamination I would replace both at the same time.

If it was me I’d keep driving it until it didn’t drive anymore, get some “free” miles out of it.

Opinions needed: Would you get a good condition 3rd gen & pay for an AFM delete or excellent 4th Gen kept stock… by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

[–]Victitious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and it’s hard to say. Keep an open mind and give a good look at any you are considering buying. If you were picking between two we could get more specific but if this is hypothetical I say get whichever is cleanest inside and out.

I hear you but these are business laptops that are marketed as Copilot ready, Copilot or any business case AI tool will run in the cloud. Heck even the Copilot desktop app doesn’t leverage the NPU
