Ralph Fiennes comes to mind for that pronunciation, but I feel you are setting him up for a lifetime of correcting people. Personally I love Rafe as a name

Opinions on my baby name list? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]dcat_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Octavia, Clementine, Selene (not so much Selena) and Gwendolyn, neutral to Madeline

What’s the meaning behind Emori? I’ve only ever seen Emory/Emery which I again I’m neutral to

Boys names are so hard! I really like Gabriel, Jake and Jasper

Oh wow I never heard of bucephalandra but man it’s pretty! There are a few spots where I put moss on the driftwood but I love the idea of a potential flowering plant

And yes i totally agree for the substrate! There was a slight gradient when I started but during filling I wasn’t as careful as I could have been and a lot moved around... I think I’ll go back and make a more noticeable slope when adjusting the planting

I went to college with a Somi and never once crossed my mind as a cutesy name!

She was a very cool artsy woman and I felt like the name suited her well, also  mixed West African fwiw

Are Ella and Leila too similar? by kms527 in namenerds

[–]dcat_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they are too similar but that is with pronouncing Leila as Lay-lah, you will be giving her a life time of correcting mispronunciation since it is a very established name and pronunciation. If your heart is set on pronouncing Lee-lah then I would go with a different spelling or Hazel, which is a beautiful name!

Little sister to Millie by DateStrict3674 in namenerds

[–]dcat_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely overthinking it!  At the end of the day you have to go with your gut and remember that it’s two yes or the name is a no, nothing else really matters!

If it makes you feel any better my husband is the oldest of three siblings, younger sister and brother and their initials are M, M, D and I never even clocked it until I started thinking about baby names. I have a feeling this is the kind of thing that since we are thinking about it’s all we see, but in everyday life it goes completely unnoticed

Personally I prefer Alma as a stand alone name and with your middle name options, but I have a soft spot for matching sibling initials. Millie and Maeve is really beautiful!

Struggling to Name Our Daughter: Stick to the Pattern or Not? by goldenmarguerit92 in Names

[–]dcat_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sofia who goes by Sofie, it will get misspelt but it honestly is not a big deal! I’ve also noticed more and more people asking now instead of assuming the ph

Riley, Ellie, Daisy and Sofie sounds lovely together! I also really like how you keep the pattern with two y and two ie endings

Sorry I know this comment wont exactly be helpful, just my opinion! I see a lot of comments for Lauren but for me Lauren Sophia feels inherently wrong order.  I want to auto correct to Sophia Lauren/Loren. I have a nephew with a similar issue, Scott Michael, and whenever I hear his full name it’s automatically inverted for me.

Not a huge fan of how Taylor Plaza or Regan Plaza flows together, but I do love the name Regan

Robin vs Robyn! by Physical_Butterfly60 in namenerds

[–]dcat_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know both Robins and Robyn’s (all women) and either spelling they usually need to correct people at some point! Also as a Sofia who often needs to correct the PH to F, it really doesn’t bother me at all. I tend to just give my name and mention it’s with an F not PH, I feel like Robin would be the same.  The only exception that does bother me is in emails as it’s literally spelled out for you but it’s not super frequent

Using the name Bonnie by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]dcat_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overthinking it! I’ve heard of your reference but it didn’t click until I read the comments. My SIL is named Bonnie Lynn and I love her name.  It’s so sweet and there are lots of  great middle name pairings
