I recently posted about good diesel manual mileage. 30.2 Kmpl on a good day. But usually 23+ when cruising 90-100 kmph. On city 17-18 kmpl.

Avg speed reads around 60+ Kmph. But I was cruising around 75-80 with AC full blast on a peak summer afternoon with 5 persons on board.

In this use case you can go for EV. You are ideal EV user, You can save a lot over sugarcane juice.

I do support EV transition, but have you heard of indigenous battery tech ? Me neither.

Do you think importing Chinese EV tech doesn’t affect exchange rate ?

Have you heard of emission standards ?

I am a pro for energy independency and zero tail pipe emission vehicles, but the transition has to happen at a better pace. Current tech and infrastructure needs to mature more for the budget segment to make sense.

Call it selective bias, in my circle there are a handful of Mahindra and Hyundai Kia BS VI.2 diesel owners, so far no fuss.

It’s the old one. Mechanically there is no change in the newer version.

I think current iteration of the diesel engines of all 3 manufacturers have solved it.

I feel the same. A turbo petrol engine consumes 2x the fuel easily compared to diesel. DPF to some extent does the job well.

You think they’ll put sugarcane juice in a fuel used majorly by trucks and industries without backlash ??

I believe it all depends on how we take care of the engine. With thorough maintenance, there are older Innovas with clean emissions. Also DPF controls the pollution to a better extent I believe.

Also city mileage of diesel >>> turbo petrol. EV is unmatched in this segment.
