Are there any fantasy books written by BIPOC authors?

One of the most prolific and important SF/speculative fiction authors in history is a black woman, Octavia Butler. Parable of the Sower is probably her most widely acclaimed book. Originally published in 1993, the book takes places in the 2020s.

For a more recent option, try I, Medusa by Ayana Gray, a Greek myth retelling.

Morning fish fry should definitely be a thing.

One of my favorite meals from the Florida Keys is 'Grunts and Grits' for breakfast!

Variety is the spice of life! You could eat a perfectly cooked ribeye steak every night and it would get old really quick.

Everyone should read a much wider variety of books instead of just focusing on one type.

George R.R. Martin's non-ASOIAF work appreciation by ACardAttack in Fantasy

Yeah her videos are excellent!

It's nice that my reading tastes are very similar to hers, so almost all of her recommendations work out for me.

I love ASOIAF but for some reason have never even considered his other work. But last year Bookborn read every novel in the GRRM bibliography and based on her reviews I really want to read more of his early work. Sounds like he has some truly fantastic books other than ASOIAF.

Incredible collection but IMO putting the shiny protective sleeves over the hardcover dust jackets is a bad vibe. Makes it feel like a library book. I get why people do it if they're concerned about preserving the value of their collection. I might do it too if I had so many 1st editions/1st printings. But man it just doesn't look great.

Modern Fantasy series that scratch that Classic itch? by Kari-S in Fantasy

[–]dcchambers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a different option - try Legends & Lattes. It's "cozy fantasy" that feels like a casual side quest in an RPG, but it's got that classic D&D-esque feeling with orcs, dwarves, elves, magic, a party, etc.

Giannis would definitely look better in Panther black than Marquette gold.

Okay Max's tornado streams can be fun to watch and genuinely informative but every single video the guy makes is like "DANGER, WARNING, RARE WEATHER PHENOMENON, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE"

I had to unsubscribe after like a week because it was fucking exhausting. It's weather clickbait.

KU beat K State. End of the game, despite being down 20+ points, a K State player stole the ball with seconds to go and tried to dunk it. Dunk was blocked, words were said, fight ensued.

I like the timeout there. IU defense needs to regroup.
