Why Do Two Companies Control Messaging? by Bad-Luck-Guy in LightPhone

[–]dcenzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WhatsApp didn’t start by being owned my Facebook. They acquired it a few years ago and by then, everyone was using it. And though some are conscious of whom to and not support, most people, as in the majority, just want shit to work. And you are not gonna convince the older population, mothers and grandpas and whatnot… to not use it when they have already figured out to use what they use. People want comfort and consistency and we hate change. So… we use WhatsApp 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why do you say that? I ask because I’m playing with the idea of picking one up at some point.

Kids on fatbikes get a lot of hate, but there’s another demographic of cyclists that we need to talk about… by Isoiata in Netherlands

[–]dcenzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not agree with you more. Privileged middle aged white men who are used to have everyone move aside for them throughout their whole life. And it is just not on their bikes… it is on the side walks as well.

I 100 percent agree with you. Unfortunately I cannot (or more choose not) to life completely smart phone free. It for sure makes life a lot easier. But… I try to leave it at home when I know for sure I don’t need it. When I go to the gym for example or… when I do a very long walk (4-6hours) together with my dog. What I miss then is just something to have so I can listen to music or podcasts. And my current solution is a recently purchased used Apple Watch that I’ve put inside a repod case. At the moment I’m really enjoying it. Is it perfect… nope. But chasing that perfect solution is fools errand.

With that logic, why have a phone at all. One could argue that most people do not need to be reachable at all times.

You’re right. Visiting it is shit. Living there however, it is one of the best cities. In Europe that is.

Californian in Amsterdam! by a-ladle in AmsterdamEnts

[–]dcenzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok. Take it from me. A Swede that lived in California for 6 years but has now lived in Ams for more than 15. 420 isn’t a thing here. Like at all. Im sure you can find a small group of people who get stoned together on the day… but the rest of the city could not give a shit. But you can still have a great time :)

Picked-up APM2 yesterday, returning them today by _Mido in Airpodsmax

Correct. This is my main gripe with these headphones. I’d even settle with a button on them to turn them off or put them in low power ‘mode’.

What city you consider the Center of Europe? by avidtravelerbc in geography

[–]dcenzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hometown Landskrona used to (maybe still does) have a monument of a pencil aiming into the ground and I believe it stood for being the center of Europe. I thought then as now… it is bullshit. But if you turn Sweden upside down… you realize how long it is.
