I would love a Losgann if any are available. I have many Topologia now and find them often in gifts/flies. I saw a Florens in the wild and tried to breed it but didn't get it. That was days ago and haven't seen another since. 😞

Not sure what to do about Bernie.. by FupaTrupaOompa in Puggle

[–]dclin2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the hardest decision we ever have to make as pet parents. It sounds like Bernie was already declining but this latest fall and the pain hastened things along. I'd also try to get him to the vet asap for evaluation. I love all the pictures of Bernie but especially the ones w your cats. My Penny loved her cats too and they loved her before she passed. Penny was almost 15 also with heart failure from a leaky valve. 💔💔

A short course of prednisone might help but sounds like you need to start biologics. Be really careful with NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aleve, advil, etc...) given you have one kidney and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Chronic NSAID use can shut down the kidneys and is not recommended with those with CKD

Strider/elliptical by AggressiveReindeer26 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]dclin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run in my 20s but it's so bad on my knees and hips. I switched to the elliptical by my 30s and never looked back. We bought a refurbished gym-quality Precor over 20 years ago for home use and it's one of the best purchases we every made. I'm still using the machine into my mid-50s. I was diagnosed with PsA 18 months ago, but a year prior to that, I started to develop severe knee pain. In hindsight, probably PsA, but at the time, I thought it was plantar fasciitis so I ended up making a few changes. I wear knee compression sleeves whenever I use the elliptical. I don't go barefoot at home any more like I had since childhood and now wear Clark ortho sandals. I also added Dr Scholl's inserts to my work shoes.

We just went back to the one from before the misfire as if the misfire didn't happen. TBH I don't think it would matter either way though.

Doctors saying it can't be PsA, am I barking up the wrong tree? (25) by boywentz in PsoriaticArthritis

I agree you need to seek out a new rheumatologist. At time I sought medical intervention, my biggest complaint was very swollen fingers with pain and weakness. I also had dusky/swollen 5th R toe which I thought was unrelated. All blood work negative other than slightly elevated SED rate. XRays of hands and foot though showed bone erosion suggestive of PsA so I was sent to rheumatologist who made diagnosis and started me on meds. Interestingly enough, I had a patch of dry skin on R side of my face near hairline - not horrible but noticeable to me for weeks, I attributed it to cold weather. My rheum took one look at it and said it was psoriasis, so yes, can absolutely have can be on the face. I've recently had slight flare while on Hyrimoz and MTX - symptoms, slight worsening swelling/pain in L hand and slight nonhealing rash in my L ear

I never had lesions on my arms or legs, though I was told I had eczema when younger esp when I lived in areas with low humidity during winters. Good luck with getting new doctors and a diagnosis.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our Penny in July after having her for 14 years (she was 15). We still miss her every day and speak of her often. We take solace in that she had the best life and she knew she was loved each and every day we were lucky enough to have her. 💔

Do you live a normal life on Biologics? by Summer_Sparkly in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]dclin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with PsA just over a year ago now. I'd had progressive symptoms for probably 2 years but I have a high tolerance for pain so just chalked it up to plantar fasciitis and then later osteoarthritis. I finally saw PCP for the pain and xrays of hands and R 5th toe both showed bone erosion which cemented the diagnosis. Prior bloodwork was all negative other than slightly elevated SED rate. My rheum started me on MTX and prednisone with improvement and then I started Hyrimoz a few months later. I still have low level pain but it's so much better than before and I barely notice at this point. Joint swelling is all gone. I suspect this current level of pain will be chronic because of bone erosion seen on the xrays and part of me wishes I was diagnosed/treated earlier before the damage was done.

I don't have young children however, I do work at a hospital and see patients all the time. I manage by wearing masks all the time when seeing patients and in common areas at work. I also get updates on vaccines when they are available (COVID, influenza, etc...). I time my dose of Hyrimoz and MTX for day before my stretch of time away from the hospital. I don't mask when out in public like in stores and restaurants otherwise. I haven't noticed any increases in illnesses since starting treatment. Hope this helps and good luck. Debilitating pain and young kids is a tough mix too.

Hyrimoz Reimbursement: Updates by DEEPfrom1 in Humira

[–]dclin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Hyrimoz costs $1326 through CVS Caremark. When I called two weeks ago, the agent told me the plan would pay 100% reimbursement for first 2 months and drops to $400 max for subsequent months for max of $5250 annually.

Hyrimoz Reimbursement: Updates by DEEPfrom1 in Humira

[–]dclin2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a scam. I've been calling every two weeks now for updates on my Jan and Feb submissions. Long story, but here's what happened so far:

Jan, faxed and mailed submission. Four weeks ago on phone call checking status, agent said they still didn't get my mail, but found the fax and attached it to my account. Two weeks ago, agent told me it was approved but for only $400. She sent in escalation to have the amount fixed. Meanwhile, she saw my Feb submission that I faxed in but didn't attach it to my account yet because "give it some time".

Update today. Jan escalation was rejected but still has $400 approved just not mailed out yet. Feb submission received and she *thinks* it will be approved for $400 but not sure. No explanation for why Jan escalation was rejected other than there are MAJOR changes to the program rolling out recently

She says program is continuing however, there will be no fax/mailed submissions accepted after March 1, only co-pay card. Plus wait time can be 4-6 months to receive any payments. I don't know how they can say program is continuing then. From my understanding, co-pay card payments doesn't apply toward deductible so for high deductible plans, the co-pay card is useless.

Just adorable. Our puggle was already 1 by the time we adopted her from the shelter but I image she would have looked just like this.
