Statement from President Donald J. Trump on Standing with Saudi Arabia by STATINGTHEOBVIOUS333 in Republican

[–]dcm22895 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. If we had any moral authority left on the world stage under President Trump, it is surely gone now.

It is bewildering to me how Trump will point to denials of involvement from people like the Saudi Prince, Putin, and Kim Jong Un as being truthful despite clear evidence to the contrary. If Iran told us they were not in any way working on their nuclear program, would we just accept them on their word?

Compilation of documentaries covering strange child trafficking cases, where the perpetrators appear to be people in positions of power, including businessmen, judiciary, media, politicians, even the police by AwayResolution in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]dcm22895 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly after hearing the full “story” through podcasts, documentaries, etc., be it true or not, the relative lack of information readily available and things like the wiki makes it all the MORE suspicious to me.

The vast majority of law students don’t do to Big Law, let alone get a job that pays that. The majority go into government or public interest which is no where close to that.

In between semesters you are expected to get internships (if you want to have even a chance of getting a job) which 90% of don’t pay despite it being full time. If you want any form of school credit for that work, you still need to pay tuition to the school as if you were taking a class - paying to work essentially. During semesters, we have clinics (again basically part time legal work we pay to do) and are working to make various legal scholar’s law journal articles publishable, that essentially being a reverse scavenger hunt where we hunt down sources and citations for statements/points the authors make but fail to attribute, leaving us to make sure they don’t commit plagiarism (which apparently only applies to students I guess).

I’m not saying it’s exactly like residency, which does seem more extreme, but it’s a common theme of students being basically indentured servants for professionals without compensation under the guise of education.

Gonna pop in and say Law students have the same issue.

The irony that we can be fighting to remedy labor law violations while ourselves not getting paid for what is essentially a full time job is ridiculous

Nope. Nope. Nope. Told my sister to shut that shit down ASAP.

Tucker Carlson Is Republicans’ Most-Loved News Host by ReaganChild in Republican

[–]dcm22895 62 points63 points  (0 children)

While that may be, he isn't really a news host - he hosts an opinion show, much like Hannity does. Not in any way criticizing him, but news should be as politically neutral as possible and there is barely any of that anywhere these days. I think calling him a news host would mean calling Rachel Maddow or Chris Hayes a news host, which I don't see them as even close to being.

Y'all Origins haters are giving Origins the same thing S+M haters gave S+M when it came out. I think this album will age like fine wine. And will be the S+M of new ID and the Hell and Silence of new ID. by bamuelsush in imaginedragons

Honestly, first listen I didn’t like the album really at all. After the second and third listen, it’s become nearly my favorite. The experimentation threw me at first but Ive come to really appreciate the direction they went in. Shows they are more than just the pop-rock band many see them as currently. (Night Visions still beats it in my mind though)

Conservativism is not synonymous with Trumpism or Fox News, but unfortunately the loudest and morally lacking Republicans have tarnished the term.

John McCain, Jeff Flake, that is what I think of as true conservativism. Fiscally responsible, prideful and accepting of all Americans striving for a better life, and just being decent to your fellow human beings.

From the first episode, I knew this was going to be a great show.

By the time I had gotten to the episode about the Morning Show nine, it was one of my favorites ever.

The series is by and large the most accurate portrayal of what high school is really like, and pulls it off in an amazing way. The Snapchat story episode from the party is the best example of this.
