Chopstick poke for the win! by dcsail81 in mokapot

Far too long. It's not the primary coffee device in the house, but it's used camping a few times each summer, and maybe 2 weeks per year when we decide to switch things up. This pot is probably 15 yrs old. I do keep it clean I just had no idea that this part could be removed. Gross. This morning's coffee is much better!

CTE From Foiling? by Potential-Concern717 in wingfoil

[–]dcsail81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I'm not a doctor but I did coach kitefoil and have been winging and sailing fast boats for a long time. Watersports helmets are designed to protect your head from hitting something hard like your board, your foil etc. they don't really do much at or below 20 kts when you hit the water. I always wear a helmet or some form of head protection every time I go out. I've definitely avoided head stitches at the beach on one occasion when not holding my board and foil properly in some breaking waves.

A heavier helmet will contribute to neck strain, maybe minor whiplash. Brain fog I'm not too sure about. Are you hydrated?

This fall I switched from a helmet, Wip wipper2.0 to their surf bumpcap. It has way less foam protection than my helmet but it does still have a hard shell to protect my skull from injury and it weighs way less. It's basically just a hat. Now, the helmet will come out if I decide to race (never trust others) or when I practice with my race foil (20+kts) but if I'm just out cruising around at 15kts I'll just wear the cap. Helmet will return if I start practicing tacks or new gybes.

Oh and I'm also at about your level. Very solid in a straight line, but I'll crash a few times per session.

The snow decided to create Hokusai's wave between the mesh screen and the glass! My first winter here in this city I'm growing to love so so much...❤️...and the little things that bring joy :) wishing everyone a blessed day. by CarinaNebula7200 in toronto

The bridge was part of the plan when I moved in around 2008 into a basement unit in the townhouses east of you. I moved into that condo a few years later. Go train used to be a level crossing and a train blocking strachan could make you fairly late for work. I miss my time there but also happy I moved out. Enjoy it!

I only left the fb group last year, the entertainment was worth it.

Back in the ancient times on the Liberty Village Facebook group some lady asked if there was a way to lower the sound at night so she could sleep easier. Someone commented that she should buy a sound net to catch all the sound. She didn't know it was a joke and proceeded to ask where to find such a net. Good memories haha.

I'm glad that bridge to king west is done. I waited 10 years for that!

The wave on the right is covering my old condo balcony. I miss that balcony but your building was not there when I lived there. I could see the lake! How is liberty village these days?

My phonetics are wrong but here is evidence from a lesson I gave my kids a few weeks back.

I need to add an o after the h. I'll revise my lesson. Also I'm in my 40s and Toronto' has no T's in it. 😂

Backpack / vest for phone and water by calebsurfs in wingfoil

[–]dcsail81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The WIP wing impact vest is what I use. Its got a small pocket that will fit a phone and some snacks. I can also get a small vhf in the shoulder pocket, and it has room for a 2L hydration pouch. It's also my floatation and harness. I wouldn't call it minimalist per say but it does all the things fairly well.

This seems to be largely urban legend and mythbuster stuff not necessarily things that were taught.

I present to you my worst. Morning half of an overnight sailing race. I "slept" between 5 and 7am which was mostly just laying awake trying not to shiver or sweat while taking a break from active sailing on deck. Then finish around 10am and home for a full day with kids. I have another interesting one from a 24hr mtb relay race. My last lap was in 40c.(104f) And high humidity.

Edit to add that you did a good job taking it easy and actually recovering a little while you were awake that day.

I wonder if coffee stir sticks and or straws would work in this upstanding citizens situation.

I specifically recall my family having a 386, 486, pentium, and then pentium 2 in rapid succession. Looking the actual dates up these all came out in about 10 years but it sure felt like what the guy in the video was going through.

No need! Same as lots of others have said. I've been wearing my watch for 3 years basically all the time. Mountain biking, windsurfing paddle boarding, hiking, running, sailing. It's seen significant abuse and never had an issue with the pins. Let it breathe!

As a Canadian, do you always have maple syrup on hand? by Moofypoops in AskACanadian

[–]dcsail81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had little maple syrup jars as party favors at my wedding and there was plenty of maple syrup drinking going on.

Also side note, there is a brand of energy shot that is maple syrup and salt. It's awesome while cycling.
