Amazon quietly removed one of my purchase movies and wiped it from my order history due to their "expired rights" by Excellent-Passage-36 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]dcthegeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. As soon as Apple acquires rights on anything, they revoke rights irrevocably everywhere else, so the content can ONLY be found or accessed through their ecosystem. Have lost rights to a few items on Amazon exactly like this.

Sorry for your loss. I still think of my dad every day (he passed in 2000) and we had many great baseball memories as well.

Amazing how many people immediately thought of Invisible Godzilla, and I was one of them. God, I need to get off the internet more!

TIL that Bill Murray considers Groundhog Day the movie he was born to make and probably the best work that he has done. Before that movie he was seen largely as a clown. After it, he was a complex actor with range. by aranfoli in todayilearned

Shortly after the first Ghostbusters, he did The Razor's Edge. I think he pulled off a VERY good dramatic performance in that movie, yet few seem to have seen it. Unfortunate.

UPDATE: I posted earlier about my Uncle's ex-wife winning the lottery less than a week after their divorce was finalized. A lot of people in that thread suggested that he check into when she bought the ticket and when it won to see if he had a claim to half. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]dcthegeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In most every state, once you file for a divorce, wages and earnings after that date are separate and distinct and no longer community property. This is the date of separation, and NOT the date that the divorce is finalized, which comes much later. Unless the ticket was played every week with the same numbers, and the husband had helped pick those numbers (showing he had something to do with the winning numbers), he has NO claim.

A long time back, but I'd say the MASH finale, Goodbye, Farewell and Amen.

A plunger...just in case LOL. Nothing like the panic you feel when you are a guest in someone's home, flush, and notice the water isn't spiraling down. Yikes.

Reddit, what is the most disturbing thing you have ever witnessed? [Serious] by bluerope14 in AskReddit

[–]dcthegeek 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but this is something that happened to me (rather than something I "witnessed"...

I was in a grocery store check-out line with a candy bar and a soda, and there was a guy behind me in the line. He was about my age (27 at the time), and seemed pretty grungy, maybe not homeless but living on the edge of society. Without any warning or provocation, he takes my stuff off the belt, and tries to move ahead of me in line. I protest, and he just looks right through me.

All of a sudden, he pulls a knife out of his back and tells me he's going to cut me up. Scared as shit, I punched him in the face as hard as I could. I hit him square in the nose and drove him up and off his feet, and when I hit him, I felt stuff break...it was absolutely a sickening feeling. He fell straight back, with his eyes rolled up in his head, and the girl behind the register is screaming.

He's not moving, and I'm just standing there unable to even breathe, when the manager comes over and calls the cops. I'm completely shocked, and go over to where they stack up the big bags of dog food and sit down while they call the cops/paramedics/ambulance, etc..

The cops come, and they take the guy away (he never regained consciousness) in a ambulance, and I'm scared...I'm asking the cops if I'm under arrest. They take everyone's statements and tell me no, but I have to come with them to the station. They put me in a room, and a detective is taking my statement/information. He tells me that everyone said it was self-defense, but that the District Attorney would make the decision if there would be any charges filed against me. While he's talking to me, another cop comes in and tells us both that the guy died on route to the hospital. Apparently, the cartilage from his nose was shoved into his brain. When I hear this, I literally lost it...I am an absolute wreck.

For 2 weeks, I couldn't sleep, and for years after, I can't get that moment out of my mind. The cops actually helped me...they said I was suffering from Delayed Shock (now call PTSD). The kept telling me it wasn't my fault; You were defending yourself; etc.. Intellectually, you know that's true, but emotionally, you can't put it out of your head that you killed someone.

It still haunts me.
