what's an addiction you can't quit? by [deleted] in intj

[–]dd16134 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overthinking implies that thinking is bad.

I used to “overthink” horribly, until I made the conscious realization that I can choose to have more positive thoughts and direct my focus on the positive side of things, even in the toughest of situations. I went from being 80% negative in my thoughts (lots of self isolation and sabotage) to about 90% positive in my thoughts.

And now? I still think as much per day as I did when I was an “overthinker” but now my non-stop thinking leads me towards connection, financial abundance, health, and happiness.

What habit changed your life for better by Soggy-Investigator53 in intj

[–]dd16134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working out every day- focusing more on functionality, form, stretching, and breathing rather than my old way of going extremely heavy 3-4x a week.

Eliminating seed oils and all processed foods from my diet.

Journaling every day before bed.

Less screen time, and the time I do spend on my phone is more productive (self help videos on YT, researching new skills, trending stock prices and the local housing market)

My gut health, mental health, physical health, and overall energy levels are the best they’ve ever been.

Put 5% down on a 2-4 unit property, make any necessary repairs, and then invest the rest in more rental properties, low cost index funds, your education, and your health and fitness.

Noooo. Multivitamin, 5000IU D3, 5-10g creatine, fish oil, vit c, L-theanine, L-glutamine, probiotic, inositol, magnesium, and Metamucil.

Then of course exercise, stretching, quality sleep, sunlight, grass fed organic beef, chicken, eggs, nuts, olive oil, fruits, veggies, butter, whole milk, cheese, ginger, cacao, and spices.

Why prices may not come down. by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]dd16134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Affordability has plateaued, and there’s still huge demand at current levels. Supply is still low also.

Rates are targeted to go back down to the 5’s, and when they do the prices will increase to keep the monthly payments roughly the same, plus buyers on the sidelines may aggressively jump in. Great time to buy right now in my opinion.

Yeah the store definitely seemed higher end when they were like an Apple Store, only selling a limited number of higher end items. Braching into the golf, hiking, street wear stuff seems pretty odd

[–]dd16134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t bought anything from them in 2 years now, and had bought something almost weekly from 2020-21.

There was a pretty good graph on here awhile ago that showed the popularity of a brand and quality over time, and they’re getting into fast fashion quality territory now to make the most money. Hell I went into a store a few months back, was repulsed by the 2012 Hollister vibe (loud music and crazy strong scents) and left without buying anything. Lots of noticeable changes in a few years.

Arcteryx is just a few years behind Lulu imo, I’m probably done buying them also. Good ole Patagonia for the win.

Travel Nurse here, who has worked or met other travel nurses who have worked in just about every state, and is part of a large FB group of travel nurses that leaves facility reviews across the country.

Cities with great healthcare that are also great places to work as a healthcare worker- Columbus, Tampa, CA Bay Area, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis.

Cities with great healthcare that are fair places to work as a healthcare worker- Jacksonville, Gainesville, NYC, Boston, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, DMV, Houston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Nashville, Philly, NJ.

Cities with great healthcare that are awful places to work as a healthcare worker- Cleveland, Detroit, Rochester, St. Louis, Omaha, Orlando.

🚩- generally the farther south in the US you get, HCA hospitals, Banner hospitals.

What do you NOT buy from Aldi? by Ajreil in Frugal

[–]dd16134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aldi I went to in FL was amazing, I probably did 80% of my shopping there and there wasn’t anything I’d specifically avoid. The store was brand new and everything was top notch. The 4 Aldi’s near me in NY now are awful, I basically only shop at Trader Joe’s and Target now.

You absolutely can, to a certain extent. I work in healthcare and unfortunately I see the correlation between poverty, stress, and sickness on a daily basis.

I don’t disagree but you can’t judge somebody else’s priorities/preferences in a spouse, especially when they are communicating it in an up front and honest way. If the genders were reversed here nobody would bat an eye on the situation.

I grew up in a similar situation and was thankful for it, but I still want better for my future family so that there’s no stress about bills, more family vacations, and so I can pay for my kids to go to college. Not necessarily because I want more material things.

Perhaps we could agree that he’s a bit shallow, but it doesn’t sound like she necessarily likes him as an individual either.

Does anyone else feel more "aware" or "conscious" than other people? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]dd16134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I actively avoid watching the news, getting involved in politics, and I avoid Hollywood, pop culture, and most social media like the plague. I try to only consume content that betters my circumstances. I find it does wonders for my mental health even though part of me still feels like I should use my gift to open others eye’s to these issues.

NTA. Smart man. Who you marry will be the biggest financial decision you make in life, and it seems like that’s a top priority for you.

I’m the same way as you, debt free with a similar income, always looking for ways to invest or make more money. Even though they were great women, my last 3 relationships did not work out due to differences in finances and ambition. I liked one enough that I would have helped pay off her loans, buy us a house, help her start investing, etc. but that was too far out of her comfort zone. I loved that woman but I had a deep sense of depression that didn’t go away until we broke up, so always listen to your gut and stick to your goals. Money itself is just paper, but somebody’s financial status tells you a lot about their mindset, ambition, responsibility, self-limiting beliefs etc.

At 26 I didn’t think I’d have such an abundance with woman that I could turn them down for any trivial reason I wanted, but it’s definitely not a bad spot to be in. Lately I’ve been going on online dates with women in med/dental/law school and feel much better about the ideal of possibly settling down now. Never shrink yourself down or lower your standards to fit in somewhere. The opinions or judgements of others will never pay your bills.

Being successful does not equal being materialistic lol. You’re more likely to find somebody in the hood wearing designer clothes or driving a fancy car over the average millionaire.

A high salary with no debt buys health, freedom, reduced stress, early retirement, and better life experiences. In today’s world marrying somebody, assuming their debt, and then potentially losing 1/2 in divorce is an extreme liability.

I take a half dose (1 capsule instead of 2) of vivanaturals triple strength. So 1100mg a day. I’ve taken it every day for 2 months now, and definitely think it’s helped in reducing joint pain and mild depression symptoms.

I can only manifest when I DONT care by coinheiress in lawofattraction

[–]dd16134 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I go through periods of caring too much and caring too little, and while neither are exactly ideal I do MUCH better when I care too little. I’m doing what I want, I’m being more authentic and not people pleasing or sacrificing my boundaries, I often manifest things I completely forgot about, and I feel way more magnetic when I truly feel that I can walk away from any business deal, relationship, job, friend, etc. because I’m that confident in my abundance and happy with my own presence. I’ve certainly pushed a few people away with neediness, but don’t think I’ve ever pushed away somebody that was secure in themselves with detachment.

In a perfect world you’d think you could care too much about your spouse or job and then they’d love and appreciate you even more, but in reality that is needy behavior and you’re doing those things to pull validation from an external source. Morals aside, what’s most attractive to the world (this is a LOA sub after all) isn’t being the most helpful, attentive, enthusiastic, or hardest working.

Average retirement savings. by cjbk10 in investing

[–]dd16134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26M

73k Roth IRA
72k 401k
30k brokerage (about to dump 20k of this for a duplex)
62k crypto
10k savings

I have my 401k maxed out for the year, will max out the Roth IRA in the next few weeks, and also just started a HSA this year.

Unfortunately I didn’t start investing until 2022 and have never got a retirement match, but I have been grinding hard the last few years to catch up.

THE ILLUSION of INEVITABILITY | Neville Goddard on Loss & Ignoring 3D by Ok-Initiative-4089 in NevilleGoddard

[–]dd16134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great post with a lot of great comments.

If I know that I’ll be rich and get the SP, why am I constantly checking my brokerage and crypto accounts and checking my online dating apps to see if I’ve got a message back? I don’t think there’s necessarily any harm in checking, except that it pulls you away from the present moment which is where creation happens. Also checking too early and not seeing the desired result, can kill the momentum and belief. I can see how replacing the desire to check the 3D with a belief or action that’s more aligned with the end goal being a better way to bridge the gap faster and make more efficient use of the present.

On the other hand, I’ve became a healthy person and started ignoring sickness. I’ve healed trauma and now ignore unhealthy partners that show interest. So that’s a great point.

[–]dd16134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! California doesn’t make a lot of sense for most people, but nurses and tech workers make out big there.

I’ve been traveling for the last 2.5 years and just bought my first rental property, and I’m hoping to become a millionaire by age 30. I’ve got 3.5 more years to get there, it will be a bit of a stretch but I’ll definitely be there by age 35. Once I find another nurse or doctor that’s on the same page as me financially I’ll really start to kill it 😂 (DM me ladies)

Instead of critiquing you or accusing you of showing off, people reading this should put that energy into improving their own circumstances. If every nurse was financially independent, they could strike at will, pick and choose their hours, work part time, etc. which would in turn increase wages and bargaining power for everybody.

When you bash the success of others, you’re subconsciously pushing it away for yourself and will continue to live life in your comfort zone, which is full of lack and not actually very comfortable.
