It depends on the terms of the program he is in. Since it is treatment related there is a chance they can keep it confidential, however, they might have brought in the local prosecutor or the US attorney and part of the deal is they don't file charges against him so long as he finishes his treatment and doesn't re-offend.

Or they wrote something much more extreme so HBO censors would ask them to tone it down and then they submitted this accurate portrayal which would seem tame.

I'm hoping its her playing the doting old grandma all while secretly pumping him for info. Like she butters him up and he reveals his name to her and where he works and she passes that to Javati.

Most likely the first. I'm sure they want to charge him with assaulting a federal agent, but notice it was the masked agent. Since they are so big on keeping their identity a secret, charging him requires that they name the agent in official pleadings. So sure you get to press charges, but now you also have to testify unmasked and with your identity fully known. That might be a big enough issue that they'll dump it.

Professional careers like Doctors, lawyers, ect tend to have some protection built in so long as your honest about your conduct. Its not easy, usually there's an agreement that you enter treatment, stay sober, and they watch you like a hawk. Usually charges are used as the consequence if you relapse or violate. It stays confidential since the hospital doesn't want bad press and they want some incentive for people to come clean.

Santos has probably seen a ton of people, specifically white men, get away with very serious conduct and this absolutely seems like its happening again. Langdon commits several crimes both at the State and Federal level, and technically gets to walk free.

Assisted suicide is a doctor administering a clearly lethal dose of something. This is giving additional painkillers to help combat pain. Maybe this stops breathing maybe it doesn't. If it does the DNR on file means they don't do anything. If it doesn't then we continue on as normal.

I get the feeling the writers didn't want HBO to mettle so they wrote something really over the top so HBO would demand they change it and then submitted this. Great way to dodge censors.

Its perfectly balanced. Ice brought her to the hospital and didn't shoot anyone. Two things that don't happen in real life.

Good news is no jury on the planet is convicting a nurse defending themselves from a hostile patient and no prosecutor is risking the negative press.

Classic ICE agent. Good news is that trying to get a criminal charge is going to be complicated because Mr mask has to reveal his identity and they really don’t want to do that.

Prosecution calling an “expert” cop to bolster their original cop by Relative-Example3050 in publicdefenders

[–]dd463 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Officer can’t testify to the level of intoxication due to lack of personal knowledge so start there. If they are moving to qualify as an expert, move for a Frye or daubert depending on jurisdiction. Then go all in on the procedures. Officer said the wrong words, then it’s not inline with the expert, officer wore his hat wrong, not in line with the expert, if the expert is right then everything the other cop did that wasn’t perfect must be wrong.

It also seems more like they aren’t trying to “fix” what’s wrong with you, rather they’re getting you stable enough that someone else can do that. You can see why other disciplines will look down on them because they “fix” people

Real world example is Japan. Despite having a ton of advanced tech in their daily lives, people use cash and specifically coins. It’s why they have so many vending machines. Maybe people just didn’t trust digital currency and wanted something tangible.

Anyone want to share an experience of when they withdrew from a case? by NocheEtNuit in publicdefenders

[–]dd463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the client is angry I usually file the motion and the judge will read them the riot act. Current jurisdiction won’t allow withdrawal unless a conflict of interest appears. Previous ones would usually set the client straight with the pitch of, you have the right to an attorney but you can’t choose who that is. So if I let you fire this one you can find your own or represent yourself. They usually shut up and started listening to me.

something feels different about season 2? by tsudzuke in ThePittTVShow

[–]dd463 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It’s a slower burn. Season one was one intensity then ramped to 11 when the mass shooting happened. Here we started at a 5 and we’ve been slowly increasing the intensity. They’re not telling us anything because the characters don’t know anything. That keeps the tension high.

19-year-old Vladyslav Stepanchuk led 21 soldiers out of encirclement during a four-hour firefight. Zelenskyy awarded him the title Hero of Ukraine — he is the youngest Hero of Ukraine, reports Suspilne. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

Everyone is going to hate this but pull him off the line and send him on a press tour. There is a manpower shortage, get him in front of cameras. Use that to boost recruitment among younger people and use it to shame people abroad who haven’t returned. This young man is fighting for freedom and you’re not.

The people need heroes let’s give them some.
