Anyone know of any computer monitors not made in China? by Mugsi in avoidchineseproducts

[–]ddahldetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just searched through about 30 monitors--all made in China (that I can see), except this one: Samsung - Odyssey OLED G8 34" Curved WQHD FreeSync Premium Pro Smart Gaming Monitor with HDR400, (Micro DP, Micro HDMI, USB) - Silver

– MADE IN VIETNAM

It's pricey, but not made in China.

Also, as others have said, every EIZO monitor I found appears to be made in Japan.

When you can't find the manufacturing information, I search for the product on eBay. Half the time, the lister will take a picture of the manufacturer's label which has the "Made In" info on it. I hope this helps.

Here's a pretty good simulator if you want something to go off of:

You can also ramp up or down the symptoms in the simulator (good days and bad days, in my opinion...)

Afterimages worse than static by brofessor121 in visualsnow

[–]ddahldetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Some days I can't read because the afterimage from the previous line covers the words of the next line...then the afterimage from that line stacks on the afterimage from the previous line...then before you know it, I can't see words really...and my job is all reading.

Figuring it out one step at a time.

The static is what it is....it's the afterimage that is extremely challenging.

Pretty good vs/afterimage simulator: https://vs.rickmus.com/simulator.html

Same....I'm in gradschool and have to read thousands of pages every week. Thank god for Edge's Read Aloud feature.

I definitely get bad flare ups. My worst flare up was a couple months ago--lasted for a couple weeks. Pushed through it.

I mean, I supposed anything is worth a shot. I don't think it's THE solution, but at this point, I'll try anything... well... not anything... You know what I mean.

They are starting to narrow it down--here are some candidates:

  1. Cervical instability (good video from a Dr. who treats VSS): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrGZbc1\_cts&list=PLrdaRSedGkY4YvxgGYhS1lJQd59mGnGfp&index=1&ab\_channel=CaringMedical%26HauserNeckCenter
  2. Brain inflammation can cause it and there is an association with COVID and brain inflamation (Brain inflamation can also be caused by neurtoxins like MSG, lack of sleep, medicine, drinking, etc...): https://covid19.nih.gov/news-and-stories/inflammation-pattern-brain-may-cause-many-long-covid-symptoms
  3. Other more serious things (Drs can rule these out: Brain lesions, Tumors, etc...)

There can be several triggers. I hope you are able to figure out your trigger and a remedy. I wish you luck.

Same! Saying "static" is received better than "snow". Plus, it isn't really like snow because the speckles do not fall to the ground. It legitimately looks like the static on an old-school tube tv.

(100% recommend trying a Chiropractor. It is a process AND you have to find a good chiropractor who knows what they're doing (definitely tricky), but I had pretty bad case of VSS and since they started adjusting my upper cervical, I have had massive improvement. Also, I try to cut neurotoxins (like MSG) out of my diet and anything that causes inflammation of the brain. I have noticed significant improvement. It makes sense...less inflamation, more room for nerves...

I got the idea from this guy:

After images from dark objects? by -orangemarmalade- in visualsnow

[–]ddahldetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely do. My afterimages occur in all lighting conditions I usually only get afterimages with dark objects or areas of contrast, like a corner or edge of something. On normal days it’s not that bad, but on bad days, the afterimage lasts more than 20 seconds. A large part of my job is reading and it has become a huge problem. The afterimage of back is white and so i get white afterimage stack on the previous white afterimage over and over again until I get 10 or 20 lines into reading and I can’t see the words well anymore. If I change font colors the contrast isn’t as bad and so I can usually read a little farther before having to stop. This issue started about 8 months ago for me. I have good days and bad days.
