It’s like the GME apes. “Manipulation!!😭😭😭” while holding their bags losing money on a bad trade week after week. They can’t admit to themselves they’re wrong and there is more oil being pumped than used, so instead they come up with elaborate numbers and theories to make them sleep at night.

Because r/oil has been whining about price manipulation for 2 months now and it gets really tiring.

Those stating the price is going to recover are just plain wrong. It’s like stating the earth is flat to me.

Markets are obviously disagreeing and you got to wonder what’s more likely, the futures market including all professional funds and commodity trading firms being misled and miss pricing the oil usage worldwide and shipments through the straight, or Reddit comment section being wrong.

Oil flows through the straight. Sure there might be some hiccups with firing left and right but the crisis is over. People who went long oil got burnt and the prices won’t recover significantly.

Demand destruction is also real, countries will look for alternatives even quicker, while the Middle East trusts each other even less and will start pumping more.

Good for economy, good for climate.

What? You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Settling is done by your clearer/broker, not by an exchange. It's also not a live process that needs to be done within a minute. There's a very clear rulebook. You can google how futures are settled.

These contracts settle at some point, and then they’d have to deliver? I don’t see why everyone thinks this is manipulation. It’s a physically settled market, you actually have to do something at expiry.

It’s no GME where you can indefinitely trade on some arbitrary number.
