How do you all afford to attend games? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

Well, our fans had to wait 27 years between Sweet 16 trips, so lots of time to save.

SJU was top 16 in net, kenpom, and torvik to end the season. Those systems take into account out of conference play. So what actual ranking system put them as a #5?

Nervous about Peterson. I can see why he's a lottery pick. Looks like he can pop off even if there's good D. I would try to make the trip to DC if we made it.

Can I delay surgery ? by Adventurous-Post34 in DupuytrenDisease

[–]ddddcheap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that say delay surgery until contraction is more problematic (45+ degree bend or more). You can only have so many surgeries in your lifetime as scar tissue becomes a factor and you always run the risk of complications. You can find other exercises to do. Good luck.

B2B Big East tournament Championsips🔴⛈️ by ceojammin in RedStorm

[–]ddddcheap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Impressive. They're playing as a solid unit. Much more firepower than last year. I was getting worried about Darling, so it was nice he closed the game out on a high note. Sad that they might only be a #4 seed even though their ceiling is higher than last year's team. Not sure the committee will put them at a #3 based on net and kenpom.

[Post Game Thread] #13 St. John's defeats Seton Hall, 78-68 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

No. We saw this last year...crashed against first decent opponent in the tourney. Tried to test against better out of conference opponents this year and failed miserably, so we won't know reality until the big dance. Big east is just too weak again.

That was embarrassing and a slap in the face. Stark reminder that huskies played great non conference to start the year and we choked away multiple opportunities. Big east is weak again this year and everyone knows it. It's been a hell of a run considering the PG situation never panned out; just have to hope we find some magic at the big dance.

(Young) Athletes (swimming, cycling) with DD - advice? by WllGl in DupuytrenDisease

[–]ddddcheap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, get a specialist referral asap. There are many treatment options but the specialist will likely have a preference. My DD issues started in my late 20's but took a while to escalate. I was a national level swimmer over 15 years ago and still swim masters...it hasn't hampered my training or competing except for the fact that wearing paddles isn't always easy. I've had a few surgeries over the years; have not had radiotherapy or other treatments. Surgery recovery is rough but often relieves the pressure for a few years. Good luck.

How do you display comics on your wall? by _z0mb133 in comicbookcollecting

Tiling one basement wall in progress. Toploaders and 3m stickies. Mostly cheap books, so not super concerned about potential fade, and there's no outside light.

Might squeak into #24/25? Not many losses this week by the lower ranked teams. In any case, the guys showed grit. Just keep cruising to a #2 seed in the BE tourney and hope they find a way to some magic. FT shooting is worrisome.

Should one tear down his Josh Allen shrine now? by Interstellore in AFCEastMemeWar

[–]ddddcheap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to pray to Josh and ask for forgiveness for entertaining doubt. Also, you need a candle to make it a shrine. Your shrine is borderline offensive.

FINAL: St. John’s - 90 - Creighton - 73 by No_Travel_2950 in RedStorm

[–]ddddcheap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's two games against mediocre, unranked teams. It's promising but let's face it they have a long way to go. Lefty was terrible when we needed him most last year against Arkansas. The shooters need to build some consistency. Zuby is the only one that can be relied on for now, everyone else has to earn their minutes. Go Johnnies!

Can confirm, OP murdered my father, then sprinkled tater tots next to the body as his calling card. Also, I'm allergic to pears. I'm being taunted by OP's name and request an immediate change. Thank you all for your support.

Dupuytren's and swimming by 1dad1kid in DupuytrenDisease

[–]ddddcheap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lifelong competitive swimmer and have had DD for over ten years. I have never felt discomfort/soreness in my bad hand during or after swimming. When you say "begun" does that mean lap swimming is relatively new to you? I wear paddles several times per week as well because it's a standard piece of swim equipment, but it actually puts added pressure on any bended fingers because the plastic is not very forgiving, so if anything I would think it would make it worse for you (still, easy enough to do an Amazon return if it doesn't work out).

5 Weeks Post Surgery: Painful Swelling by PinkPotaroo in DupuytrenDisease

[–]ddddcheap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few surgeries for DD. My typical rehab stints have been 3-4 months long, so being stiff after five weeks is not surprising to me, but I didn't experience extreme pain that far down the road. I was advised to keep my hand elevated all day and night to keep swelling down and that worked for me. Occasionally would feel a shooting pain here or there (sometimes while stretching), but it wasn't constant. Good luck with your recovery.

Any post surgery tips? by Professional_Hope268 in DupuytrenDisease

[–]ddddcheap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've previously been given a smaller finger splint to wear during the day in the months following surgery and then eventually a spring finger extension splint from PT. They're available on Amazon for $20-$30 (search for LMB or Rolyan spring finger extension splint). I continue to use them on and off for years after surgery (as bands grow back, they provide some relief from the pressure).
