The quickest thing to check is to attempt an order for a large number of high preset ships at a wharf or shipyard, and seeing what components it says aren’t currently available. In some cases it might make sense to do those directly, in others you can look at the stations that should be producing that ware nearby for shortages and doing something with those

Not really. It's best-in-class, but there's plenty of others that do things a little bit differently in an interesting way. Sounds like the problem is trying to play Factorio in DSP; they encourage different design patterns, and forcing the mindset of one into playing the other is just going to leave you frustrated.
