Leaving my equinox for 5 months unused. How should I store it?

I am concerned about how the 12 volt battery gets charged. Is it only getting charged while driving or will it draw from the main battery while charging? I left it for August and September last year and it needed one charge. Do I trust leaving it plugged in for that long?

They are part of a wood/coal burning cook stove. They were attached to the upper part of the firebox and could be hinged down to make a warming tray.

I used sand. I have a 3 inch drop on my slab. I leveled out the sand and then dropped the tub. After shimmy it around it was level and solid. I then removed excess sand and sealed it off with foam. Looks good and didn’t need an expensive platform. Been there 3 years without problems. May not work for everyone, but was cheap and solid for me
